TODAY/THIS WEEK

GARRISON COMMANDER SUPERVISOR MAKE-UP TRAINING-FS, Thursday:
A make-up session will be held Thursday from 9-10 am in the Garrison Conference Room, Bldg 624. Sign-in begins 30 minutes prior to start time. All supervisors are required to attend.  Do not bring food or beverages, except water. POC is Ms. Fisher, 912-767-5047 or Carol.a.fisher1.civ@mail.mil.

MONTGOMERY STREET CLOSURE, through Friday:
The Montgomery Street exit gate on Hunter AAF will be closed 10-11 a.m.  and 2-3 p.m. through Friday. The entrance side will remain open with few delays. The gate closure is to allow large, oversized,  heavy equipment to enter the installation. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes to exit the installation during that time period. All other gates will be open and operating normally. Please mark your calendars to reflect these closures and plan accordingly. If there are any questions concerning the closure, please call the Law Enforcement Branch at 912-315-6133.

WARRIORS WALK CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES, ongoing:
Construction of Phase 1 of Warriors Walk continues along 6th Street and expanded to phase Sep. 23. Phase 2 is located along the edge of Taylors Creek Golf Course between Gulick Ave and Bundy Ave. During this time, the area will be fenced off and signs will be posted. We ask for your patience and understanding. The intent is to make this memorial transition a smooth and honorable one. DPTMS P&O ORGANIZATION DAY, Friday:
The Plans & Operations Division of the DPTMS will conduct its annual Organization Day Friday at Holbrook Pond.  All non-mission essential personnel will have duty at Holbrook and will not be available for routine support.  Contact the IOC at 912-767-8666/8667 for any critical requirements.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY, Friday:
The FS and HAAF Army Substance Abuse Program in coordination with the Chatham County Office of the Drug Enforcement Agency will host a “National Prescription Drug Take
Back Day” Friday between the hours of 1-5 p.m. at the FS and HAAF Commissaries. All Soldiers, Family Members, Retirees, Civilian Employees and community members are encouraged to turn in all unused, expired or unwanted prescribed and over the counter medication for proper disposal. PAO CLOSURES, Oct. 2:
The Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Public Affairs Office will be closed for Resiliency/Organization Day on Oct. 2. Any emergency should be directed to the EOC for the on-call PAO officer at 912-767-8666. Offices will reopen for normal duty Oct. 3. For more information, call 912-435-9874.

DIRECTORATE OF HUMAN RESOURCES ANNOUNCES FORT STEWART & HUNTER AAF CLOSURE, Oct. 2:
On Oct. 2, the DHR will close for Resiliency/Organization Day. Buildings affected on Fort Stewart include all offices belonging to the DHR in building 100-ACES; building 253-Soldier Service Center; building 161 - FOIA/RHA/Pubs; building 201, 201A & 201C - ASAP; building 208- Mower Processing Center; building 418 - OMDC. Buildings affected on Hunter AAF include all offices belonging to the DHR in building 212-ASAP; building 1283-ASAP; building 1286-MPD; building 1290- ACES; building 1212 - OMDC.  We will reopen for normal operations Oct. 3.

AAFES OFFERS FREE SHOWING, Oct. 4:
AAFES offers a free screening of "Fury" at Woodruff Theater 3 p.m. Oct. 4.  Tickets are available beginning today, Sept. 23 at any restaurant in the PX Food Court located in building 71. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, is Rated R for strong sequences of war violence, some grisly images, and language throughout.

DIVARTY GOLF TOURNAMENT, Oct. 14:
Field Artillery Battalion teams are asked to register in advance NLT Oct. 1 (names and entry fees).  The cost is $40 a person ($160 a team) which includes lunch, cart and greens fee. DIVARTY Golf shirts and DIVARTY Ball tickets will also be available. Supplies are limited, so ensure you get yours before you hit the greens. AFAP SUGGESTIONS WELCOME, by Oct. 3:
Got an issue that you believe would make our Army community better?  Share it now for the next AFAP. Go to the Team Stewart website, www.stewart.army.mil. Click on Army Community Service then Army Family Action Plan. You may submit a local or global issue and issues may be submitted anonymously. Or, you may email your issues to Rebecca.e.sellars.civ@mail.mil. Issues should be sent by Oct 3 and include the issue, the scope (information about the issue and who it effects) and your recommendations to solve it. All issues will be discussed and prioritized by delegates at the Oct 8 AFAP conference.

FMWR NEWS

HUNTER FALL CARNIVAL, Thursday-Sunday:  
Four-day, pay-as-you-go Carnival, located directly behind Tominac Fitness Center will feature various adult and children’s rides plus food concessions and skill games. Open 6-10 p.m. Thursday; 6-11 p.m. Friday; noon-11 p.m. Saturday and 1-11 p.m. Sunday. Food and games are individually priced. No outside coolers or food. Fees for rides will range from 3-4 tickets per ride. Carnival-goers can save by purchasing tickets in quantity or by purchasing arm bands for unlimited rides for that day. NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK COMPETITION, Saturday:
Boys and girls ages 6-15 will participate in all three events (punt, pass, kick) for a total score and a chance to advance to the sectional competition. Competition will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Youth Sports Football Complex on Green Street, Fort Stewart. Boys and girls compete separately. Participants must have a proof of age and register at Youth Sports and Fitness Center, building 7338. Only gym shoes can be worn for competition. BASS TOURNAMENT AT FORT STEWART, Saturday:
Catch & Release Bass Tournament begins at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at Pond 26, Metz Pond at Fort Stewart. First-place prize $250, plus $100 prize for largest bass. Door prizes and presentation of Angler of the Year Award after weigh-in. The award will be based on total weight of fish caught in the four tournaments. Fees vary and are based on registration. "GOLF 4 LIFE" GOLF CLINICS AT HUNTER, Saturday: 
Have fun and learn golf at the “Golf 4 Life” free clinic from 9-10 a.m. Sept. 27 at Hunter Golf Course. Each clinic covers a short introduction and new topic. Attend one or more. 8 FOR 8 BOWLING LEAGUE FOR KIDS AT STEWART BOWLING CENTER, Oct. 2- Nov. 20:

Eight for Eight Bowling League at Stewart Bowling Center, building 450, is open for kids (ages 3-16) from 6-8 p.m. Thursdays starting Oct. 2. Children bowl two games per week and at end of the program receive a free bowling ball. Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.
