AFAP SUGGESTIONS WELCOME, by Friday:
Got an issue that you believe would make our Army community better?  Share it now for the next AFAP. Go to the Team Stewart website, www.stewart.army.mil. Click on Army Community Service then Army Family Action Plan. You may submit a local or global issue and issues may be submitted anonymously. Or, you may email your issues to Rebecca.e.sellars.civ@mail.mil. Issues should be sent by Friday and include the issue, the scope (information about the issue and who it effects) and your recommendations to solve it. All issues will be discussed and prioritized by delegates at the Oct 8 AFAP conference.

FUEL FACILITY CLOSURE, Tuesday:
The Fort Stewart Fuel Facility will close Tuesday from noon-6 p.m. to conduct End of Year Close Out.  The Hunter Army Airfield Fuel Facility will close Tuesday and will reopen Wednesday at 12:01 a.m. for End of Year closeout.  Customers will need to obtain required fuel prior to the closure.  POC for additional information is Ms. Sylvia Whitfield at (912) 435-0146.

TRAINING RESOURCE CONFERENCE, Tuesday:
S-3's, Operations Sergeants Major, Master Gunners and Schools NCO's are reminded that the next monthly Training Resource Conference will be held Tuesday, 9:30am, at MOON THEATER. We will schedule training devices, ranges and training areas up through March 2015. The next conference will not be until Oct. 28. For more information, call 28 October 2014. NEW VETERINARY PRESCRIPTION POLICY, effective Wednesday:
Effective Wednesday, a military-wide policy change goes into effect regarding pet prescriptions (including Heartworm and Flea Prevention).  If your pet's prescription is not already in our computer system, there will be a two business day wait period while it is being processed and approved by our veterinarians.  No prescriptions written by civilian providers will be accepted.  In order to fill your pet's prescription they must have been seen by a military installation veterinarian within the past year. DIRECTORATE OF HUMAN RESOURCES ANNOUNCES FORT STEWART & HUNTER AAF CLOSURE, Thursday:
On Thursday, the DHR will close for Resiliency/Organization Day. Buildings affected on Fort Stewart include all offices belonging to the DHR in building 100-ACES; building 253-Soldier Service Center; building 161 - FOIA/RHA/Pubs; building 201, 201A & 201C - ASAP; building 208- Mower Processing Center; building 418 - OMDC. Buildings affected on Hunter AAF include all offices belonging to the DHR in building 212-ASAP; building 1283-ASAP; building 1286-MPD; building 1290- ACES; building 1212 - OMDC.  We will reopen for normal operations Oct. 3.


PAO CLOSURES, Thursday:
The Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Public Affairs Office will be closed for Resiliency/Organization Day Thursday. Any emergency should be directed to the EOC for the on-call PAO officer at 912-767-8666. Offices will reopen for normal duty Oct. 3. For more information, call 912-435-9874.

GARRISON COMMANDER SUPERVISORY TRAINING-HAAF, Thursday:
The Garrison Commander will conduct mandatory training for all Garrison Civilian Supervisors and those in uniform that supervise Garrison Civilians, AF and NAF Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at the HAAF ACS Bldg 1286.  A make-up session will be held on Oct. 8 from 9-10 a.m. at the HAAF ACS Bldg 1286. STEWART CPAC CLOSURE FOR ORG DAY, Friday:
The Fort Stewart Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Appropriated Funds and Non-appropriated Funds offices, will be closed Friday for their annual Organizational Day. Both offices will resume regular hours of operation Oct. 6 at 7:30 a.m. For more information, call 912-767-1323.

AAFES OFFERS FREE SHOWING, Saturday:

AAFES offers a free screening of "Fury" at Woodruff Theater 3 p.m. Saturday.  Tickets are available at any restaurant in the PX Food Court located in building 71. The movie stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Pena, Jon Bernthal, Jason Isaacs, is Rated R for strong sequences of war violence, some grisly images, and language throughout.

WARRIORS WALK CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES, ongoing:
Construction of Phase 1 of Warriors Walk continues along 6th Street and expanded to phase Sep. 23. Phase 2 is located along the edge of Taylors Creek Golf Course between Gulick Ave and Bundy Ave. During this time, the area will be fenced off and signs will be posted. We ask for your patience and understanding. The intent is to make this memorial transition a smooth and honorable one. SEPTEMBER/OTHER HEADLINES

EQCC MEETING, Oct. 7:
IAW AR 200-1, the Garrison Commander will chair the Environmental Quality Control Committee Meeting Oct. 7 the FS Recycling Processing Center (Bldg 1384) on Kilpatrick Street (turn left on Kilpatrick at the end of William H. Wilson Blvd). The meeting will be held from 12:30-2:30 p.m. and will commence with an award presentation by the Garrison Commander. Participants will be divided into groups and escorted to various sections of the Recycling Processing Station. The EQCC helps the Installation in meeting environmental management responsibilities. Brigade representation, Garrison Directors, Rear Detachments, Tenant Orgs, and Environmental Compliance Officers are required to attend or send a representative. DIVARTY REACTIVATION GOLF TOURNAMENT (Thunder on the Greens), Oct. 17:

This tournament is open to all Soldiers and Civilians on Fort Stewart. Field Artillery Battalion teams are asked to register in advance NLT Wednesday (names and entry fees).  The cost is $40 a person ($160 a team) which includes lunch, cart and greens fee. DIVARTY Golf shirts and DIVARTY Ball tickets will also be available. Supplies are limited, so ensure you get yours before you hit the greens. REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR ACES COLLEGE GRADUATION CEREMONY, Oct 26:
The 33rd Annual College Graduation is 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Main Post Chapel. The event is open to all Military, Family Members, Retirees, and employees if you are within nine semester hours of completing degree requirements or have earned a degree, certificate or diploma since Jan, 2013. MARNE DIVISION BALL SAVE THE DATE, Nov. 21:
Come celebrate the 3rd Infantry Division’s 97th birthday on beautiful Jekyll Island, Nov. 21 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center starting at 5:30 p.m.  Guests are given the option of a fine chicken or steak meal and a memento.  The evening also includes a guest speaker, dancing, and a photographer on site to commemorate the evening.  Ticket prices will be published soon with sales beginning in October.  Keep watching the 3rd Infantry Division Facebook page for unit POCs and more details.  #3idball2014.

FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, October:
Legion (building 207, 660 Harmon Ave), Raider (building 642, 1312 William H. Wilson Ave) Wheelhorse (building 3003, 1600 W. 6th Street), and Vanguard (building 8439, Vanguard Road) DFACs will be open for weekday breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, Monday - Friday.  Weekend/holiday hours begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday Oct. 10-13, the weekend designated DFACs begins with supper Oct. 9).  Dining Facility information can be found on the Team Stewart webpage at: http://www.stewart.army.mil/info.asp?e=DFAC <http://www.stewart.army.mil/info.asp?e=DFAC>. FS WEEKEND/HOLIDAY DFAC:
Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Raider and Vanguard DFACs.  Vanguard DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal Oct. 9 and will reopen with the breakfast meal Oct. 14. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday Oct. 10-13, the weekend designated DFACs begins with supper Oct. 9).  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

FS WEEKDAY MEAL HOURS:
The Fort Stewart Weekday Meal hours are Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Thursday Breakfast hours are; Legion 6-8 a.m.; Raider 5-6:30 a.m.; Wheelhorse 5-6:30 a.m.; and Vanguard 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch and Dinner Meal Hours for all DFAC's on Thursday are; Lunch from Noon to 1:30 p.m.; and Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Dinner Meal hours are 4-5:30 p.m.

HAAF CONSOLIDATED DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, October:
HAAF Consolidated DFAC (Bldg 110, 89 William Barksdale Cir) Weekday Meal Hours are Breakfast 7:30-9:00 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Meal Hours are breakfast 6:30-7 a.m. & 7:30-9:00 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m. Weekend and Holiday Meal Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

FORT STEWART STRAY/ADOPTION FACILITY:
The Fort Stewart stray/adoption facility is located in the Veterinary Treatment Facility, building 1180.  All animals found on post are brought here.  They are held for 3 business days for an owner to claim after which if the animal does not have a microchip or tags, they are put up for adoption.  There are a wide array of cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies for adoption now.  Stop by today to take a look! FMWR NEWS

STEWART SKEET & TRAP RANGE CHANGES HOURS:
New hours of operation have been adopted by the Stewart Skeet and Trap Range, located at Holbrook Pond, building 8332. From October-April, the facility will be open on Fridays from 3-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. From May-September, the range will be open Fridays from 3-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. until noon. CLUBHOUSE HOURS CHANGE AT TAYLORS CREEK, HUNTER GOLF COURSES:
The clubhouses at Taylors Creek and Hunter Golf courses now close at 6:30 p.m. With the arrival of Daylight Savings Time on Nov. 2, the clubhouses will be closing at 5:30 p.m. For more information, call Taylors Creek (912-767-2370) or Hunter Golf Course (912-315-9115).

8 FOR 8 BOWLING LEAGUE FOR KIDS AT STEWART BOWLING CENTER, Thursday- Nov. 20:
Eight for Eight Bowling League at Stewart Bowling Center, building 450, is open for kids (ages 3-16) from 6-8 p.m. Thursdays. Children bowl two games per week and at end of the program receive a free bowling ball. Cost of $8 per week covers shoe rental, instructional fees, equipment, one-year membership to USBC Basic Youth, USBC Membership Card and League Award Emblems. LARGE CALIBER RIFLE SHOOT, Friday & Oct.19:
New large rifle shoot at the Small Arms November Range on Friday during the hours of 1-5 p.m. and Oct. 19 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Opportunity for Soldiers, Retirees, Army Civilians, and civilian guests to sight-in large caliber weapons at distances of 25, 50 and 100 meters only. (Registration ongoing.) Register to have your on-post garage sale location noted on a map of Post-Wide Housing Garage Sale sites at Stewart and Hunter from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. There is no charge. Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell, but everyone, including civilians in nearby communities, is invited to the neighborhood garage sale throughout Stewart and Hunter post housing areas. FORT STEWART FALL CARNIVAL, Oct. 9-12: 
Four-day, pay-as-you-go Carnival at Walker Field (adjacent to Bennett Sports Complex) will feature adult and children’s rides, plus food concessions and skill games. Open 6-10 p.m., Oct. 9; 6-11 p.m. Oct. 10; noon-11 p.m. Oct. 11 and 1-11 p.m. Oct. 12. Food and games individually priced. Ride fees will range from 3-4 tickets per ride. Carnival-goers can save by purchasing tickets in quantity or by purchasing arm bands for unlimited rides for the night. No weapons, pets, coolers or food allowed on site. KAYAK/CANOE FLOAT TRIP ON A COASTAL GEORGIA RIVER, Oct. 11:

Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered. Marne Messages are posted daily at www.stewart.army.mil, and www.facebook.com/3rd.Infantry.Division>. MESSAGES HAVE A 3-DAY RUN LIMIT; you may, however, re-submit after 3rd day for continuations. Please submit your messages by 9:45 a.m. daily for inclusion in the same-day message.

Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.
