HUNTER TRAFFIC DELAYS, April 28-June 5:
Expect traffic delays on Hunter Army Airfield, April 28-June 5, in Wilson Acres and New Gannam, along North and South Lightning Road, off of North Perimeter Road and Steven Douglass Street.  Lane closures may be necessary to conduct a smoke test of the sanitary collection system.  Delays may be incurred due to movement of vehicles and personnel.  Please plan accordingly for the delays and slow down and be aware of the workers and equipment in the area.  POC is Kevin Montano, DPW at 912-767-4937 or 912-767-2010.

TRAINING RESOURCE CONFERENCE, APRIL 28:
S-3's, Operations Sergeants Major, Master Gunners and Schools NCO's are reminded that the next monthly Training Resource Conference is 9:30 a.m. April 28 at Moon Theater. MEDDAC VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION CEREMONY, April 29:
The U.S. Army Medical Department Activity (MEDDAC) will conduct the FY15 AMEDD, FSGA Volunteer Recognition Ceremony on 1:30 p.m. April 29 at the Winn Army Community Hospital (WACH) in the Patriot Auditorium, on Fort Stewart.  For more information, email margaret.a.jacob.mil@mail.mil.  

JAG OFFICE CLOSED, April 29:

ADDITIONAL DUTY SAFETY OFFICER UPDATE MEETING CHANGE, APRIL 30:
The location for the 3rd infantry Division Additional Duty Safety Officer update meeting has been changed to Woodruff Theater from Moon Theater.  The time and date remain the same at 9 a.m. April 30.  For additional information contact john.w.hornick.civ@mail.mil.  

VISITOR CONTROL CENTER HOURS, Through April 30:
The Directorate of Emergency Services will close the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Visitor Control Centers between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.   All visitors who have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID to access post unescorted will be able to access post as normal.  Visitors who do not have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID will not be granted unescorted access to the installation and will be required to have a valid Common Access Card / Military ID holder physically meet them at Gate 1 (FS) or the Montgomery Gate (HAAF) for access.  The valid ID Holder will be the visitor's "Sponsor" while on the installation.  Once the sponsor meets their guest at the gate they will be allowed to follow their sponsor in their vehicle to their final destination.  Visitors will be logged onto post once the sponsor arrives at the gate.  The Sponsor will be responsible and held accountable to maintain positive control.  Sponsors are also responsible for the personal conduct of their visitors.  Only valid Sponsors 18 and older will be allow to sponsor Guests/Visitors during this time period.  Up to five visitors will be allowed per sponsor. MICC CLOSED, April 30:
The MICC office will be closed April 30 (Thursday) for a SHARP Stand-Down Day.  The office will re-open on Friday 1 May 2015 for business. 
HUNTER FIRE WARDEN CLASS, May 7: 
The next HAAF fire warden’s class will be held May 07 at 9 a.m. in Fire Station Number 2 Building 1295. All attendees are asked to bring a unit appointment letter stating they are the assigned fire warden for their unit/location with building number identified. UPDATE YOUR GOARMYED EMAIL PREFERRED ADDRESS, before June 30: 
AKO will cease forwarding emails to Army Common Access Card (CAC) holders on June 30.  AKO has already ceased to forward emails to non-CAC accounts.  In order for you to receive information from GoArmyEd you must update your account information and change your Preferred Email address to your @mail.mil account.  To update your record select the "Account Information" link at the bottom of your home page.  Once you update your Preferred Email address please select the "Update Account Information" button. 

HOME BUYING WORKSHOP:  May 1:
The ACS Financial Readiness Program will be conducting a Home Buying Workshop, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., May 1st.  Hunter’s ACS Bldg. 1286.  This workshop is a day long series of informative information to assist Soldiers and their Family Members with making wise decisions. CONTROLLED BURNING, ongoing:
Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling through areas that may be affected by smoke. For more information, please contact Amanda Price at 912-767-2010.  

BIKE PATH CLOSURE, May 4-15:
The Bike Path along Hero road will be closed May 4-15 from Liberty Street to the bridge toward Main Post. The closure is necessary for the installation of a new water main for the Diamond Elementary School Project. Signs will be posted for the duration of closure. Also motorists should use caution in this area during the construction period.  POC regarding additional information relative to the above is Ben Seacrist, DPW, at 228-7114. 

EARN PROMOTION POINTS WITH ACS CLASSES:
In accordance with AR 600-8-19 paragraph 3-44a. (3), Soldiers can earn four promotion points for each 40 hours of each ACS courses. The ACS courses for promotion points include:  Family Advocacy/New Parent Support Program Classes; Financial Readiness Training Classes; Operation R.E.A.D.Y. (Resource’s for Educating about Deployment and You); Army Family Team Building Level K-Military Knowledge; AFTB Level K is the “heart” of the AFTB Training; AFTB Level G – Personal Growth & Resiliency; AFTB Level L – Leadership Development; and AFTB Level I, II, III on-line instruction through www.myarmyonesource.com.  For questions please contact ACS Plans and Operations at (912) 767-3863. 

CARE TEAM TRAINING, MAY 5:
The time to set up a CARE Team is not when you need one.  Learn how to set up and respond to a Family who requests CARE Team support.  This training will be conducted by ACS on 5 May, 9am to 11:30 a.m. in bldg. 87.  Training covers how to set up teams, entering the house, ways the FRG can support and menu preparation.  Please register for this most important training by calling (912) 767-1257/4047/1597. 

MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY, May 7 & 8: 
In 1984 President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of spousal commitment to the readiness and well-being of Military members by declaring the Friday before Mother’s Day every year as Military Spouse Appreciation Day.  This event is designed to show appreciation for the sacrifices of Military spouses.  ACS will celebrate and honor our Military Spouses at Fort Stewart on May 7 with displays, an open house and bldg. 86 will have cake and punch.  On May 8, the ACS at HAAF will have a similar event, but be housed in bldg. 1286.  For questions, call FS 767-5058 or HAAF 315-6816. 

2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, May 8:
Volunteers are needed as huggers, buddies and the cheering section for the Spring Special Olympics game.  This year's event will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Liberty County Recreation Department, 607 Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA.  For information contact ACS EFMP, 912-767-5058. 

USAG WOMEN'S MENTORING PROGRAM, May 8:
The Equal Employment Opportunity Office and Special Emphasis Program Committee is launching the 2nd rotation of the Women's Mentoring Program. This is an eight-month (June 1 - Feb. 8) mentoring opportunity that will allow for the professional development of carefully matched mentoring pairs.  To be eligible for this program, you must be a federal Civilian female employee.  Mentees should be GS 11 and below or NAF equivalent.  Mentors should be GS12 and above or NAF equivalent. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

CIVILIAN FITNESS PROGRAM, June 1-Dec. 3:
 Register by May 27 for the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Civilian Employee Wellness and Fitness Program.  Applications are available online at www.stewartmwr.com/ or www.huntermwr.com. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet.  This program lasts 6 months.  The Stewart Program at Newman Fitness Center, B-439 has 25 spaces.  The Hunter Program at Tominac also has 25 spaces.  Hunter employees at MEDDAC, DENTAC and MSE are encouraged to apply.  The Civilian Fitness Program provides opportunities for Civilian Employees to improve their health, well-being and overall resilience. LARGE CALIBER RIFLE SHOOT, MAY 1:
A Large Caliber Rifle Shoot will be held, 2 to 6 p.m., May 1, at the small arms November Range on Fort Stewart. The cost is $5 per two-hour block/person. All weapons must be registered on Fort Stewart. For more information, call 912-767-4316. 

COSMIC BOWLING COMES TO MARNE CENTER

PLAY FOOT GOLF SCRAMBLE AT HUNTER
Lieutenant Colonel Will Bowman invites all to play in the inaugural Garrison Commander’s Foot Golf Scramble, which will get under way, 9 a.m., May 8. The 18-hole foot golf layout is adjacent to the front nine holes of Hunter Golf Course. The cost for the four-person scramble is $25 per person. Rules are similar to regular golf. HOLBROOK MOVIES UNDER THE STARS
The first showing in the popular Holbrook Movies Under the Stars series will be May 16 at 8:30 p.m. and will feature “Big Hero 6.” The film is rated PG and lasts 93 minutes. HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD 75TH ANNIVERSARY DUATHLON 5K RUN Run and ride on ground that is part of the history of Hunter Army Airfield’s service to America in times of peace and war.  Hunter Army Airfield 75th Anniversary Duathlon 5K Run, starting at 8 a.m. May 16, consists of a 5K run on the flight line, a 10-mile bicycle ride around the post perimeter and a 3K run around the headquarters building.  The event also will have static military displays, band music and food vendors. Residents of surrounding communities are invited to take part. Trophies will be awarded to the top three overall male/female duathlon/5K runners. Run or Bike Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus. Come out and cheer on these awesome athletes and the House of Heroes cause of modifying the homes for wounded warriors. Earth Day 2015 is quickly approaching!  Each year Earth Day is recognized on April 22 and is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. From its beginning, Earth Day has reminded us to “think globally and act locally” because our working and living environment extends beyond our homes, neighborhoods, and Installation to our country and our planet. REWARD OFFERED FOR VANDALISM:
Fort Stewart Police are offering up to a $1000 reward for information pertaining to the identification, arrest and conviction of person(s) responsible for spray painting and damaging 22 road signs, 2 government buildings and a roadway which occurred on April 12. Any person with information regarding this incident should contact the Fort Stewart MPI office at 912-767-5682 (POC: Investigator Cardozo) or the Fort Stewart Police at 912-767-9629.

Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as railroad crossing construction is planned for Sigma Street from March 27 from 6 a.m. until April 27. NEW VISITOR CONTROL CENTER HOURS, Through April 30:
The Directorate of Emergency Services will close the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Visitor Control Centers between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.   All visitors who have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID to access post unescorted will be able to access post as normal.  Visitors who do not have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID will not be granted unescorted access to the installation and will be required to have a valid Common Access Card / Military ID holder physically meet them at Gate 1 (FS) or the Montgomery Gate (HAAF) for access.  The valid ID Holder will be the visitor's "Sponsor" while on the installation.  Once the sponsor meets their guest at the gate they will be allowed to follow their sponsor in their vehicle to their final destination.  Visitors will be logged onto post once the sponsor arrives at the gate.  The Sponsor will be responsible and held accountable to maintain positive control.  Sponsors are also responsible for the personal conduct of their visitors.  Only valid Sponsors 18 and older will be allow to sponsor Guests/Visitors during this time period.  Up to five visitors will be allowed per sponsor. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

SMASH OUT ALCOHOL ABUSE, April 20:Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will sponsor an Alcohol Awareness Month Event “Smash out Alcohol Misuse and Alcohol Screening Day”, Monday April 20, in the PX parking lot of both installations, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A car will be set up for individuals to take their turn at wrecking the car with a sledge hammer to show that it takes hours to wreck a car with a sledge hammer, but it only takes a drunk driver a split second. All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity, the ASAP will count the training hours toward each unit’s minimum 4 hour annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement. WOMEN AIRFORCE SERVICE PILOTS (WASP) EXHIBITION, April 14, 16 and May 7 and 12:
The “WASP” Traveling Exhibition will be on display at Fort Stewart and Hunter AAF in recognition of the 75th Anniversary of “Hunter Field and Camp Stewart" at Wright Army Airfield-MidCoast Airport Terminal, located at 1116 East Lowes Circle in Hinesville, Ga, on April 14 and 16.  The exhibit will travel to Hunter at the Truscott Terminal, Bldg. 7920, North Lightning Rd, May 7 and 12.  There will be two sessions each day, 10 a.m. to Noon and 1-3 p.m.  As a pioneering organization of civilian female pilots, many WASP served at our local “Liberty Field” (Now Wright AAF MidCoast Regional Air-port on Ft Stewart), flying a variety of Army Aircraft during WWII.

 

ROLLOVER MACHINE VISITS HUNTER, April 14:
The Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will sponsor an Alcohol Awareness Month Event 9-10 a.m. 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. April 14 at the Hunter Post Exchange parking lot.  The event is supported by the Governor’s Office of Vehicle Safety and includes a Vehicle Rollover Simulation demonstration. Also, Soldiers attending will get a chance to perform common tasks while wearing “Drunk Goggles” i.e. driving a golf cart, play corn hole, and try their hand at the Quarterback Madness Football throw. All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity, the ASAP will count the training hours toward each unit’s minimum 4 hour annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement.

VRO OFFICES CLOSED, April 14, 16:
The Hunter Vehicle Registration Offices will be closed from Noon to 3 p.m.  April 14; and the Fort Stewart VRO will be closed from Noon to 3 p.m. April 16.  The closures are to allow employees to attend their respective State of the Garrison briefings.    

STATE OF THE GARRISON - FORT STEWART, April 16:
The Fort Stewart State of the Garrison is scheduled for April 16 from 1-3 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel.   The   State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce. This will be the last workforce briefing for COL Kevin Gregory.  Topics will include:   Civilian Fitness Program, Garrison Workforce Training and Education.  This forum is open to all DA Civilian garrison employees.  This event will be designated as your official place of duty.

MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD WHEELS DAY EVENT, April 17:
Wheels Day, part of the celebration of April as Month of the Military Child, will be held Friday (April 17) starting at 9:30 a.m. in the parking area of the Child Development Center (building 403) and the Marne Bowling Center. No charge. Parents welcome. Children can explore and learn about military vehicles their Moms and Dads drive, see police and fire vehicles up close, learn about fire safety in the Fire House and talk to police, firemen and emergency responders. A Women's and Men's Single (A, B, C division levels of play) double elimination racquetball tournament will be held May 7-9 at 6 p.m. at Newman Fitness Center, building 439, and the Johnson Fitness Center, building 8437. No charge to enter the non-sanctioned competition, but participants are asked to register at either fitness center by April 27. There will be one event per person and games played to first 15 points. RUN/BIKE FOR THE HEROES, May 20-25:
Run Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus.
