WINN ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL TOWN HALL, Wednesday, March 11:

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE:  Designate a Driver.  Fort Stewart and Hunter Police will be actively conducting DUI checkpoints beginning March 14 in various location on the installations and Ga. highways 144, 119, and Ga. highway 47. 

INSTALLATION EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE, March 16 - 20:  Between March 16 - 20, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will conduct an Emergency Response Exercise.  This exercise will test our ability to respond to events which could happen here.  You may hear announcements or warning sirens over our Emergency Warning System and Emergency Services sirens on vehicles.  As a result of the exercise, you may experience delays at gates and facilities, or be asked to remain indoors until the all clear is given.  Please follow the instructions given over the address system or in the building or activity in which you are located. For the exercise, we will use all forms of communication which include, but are not limited to reader boards, Marne TV, Social Media, and the Early Warning System.  All exercise announcements will be prefaced with "EXERCISE-EXERCISE-EXERCISE”.  At any time if you hear any announcements that do not begin with “EXERCISE-EXERCISE-EXERCISE”, it is a real announcement and you must respond to the instructions.  Please be patient while we conduct this exercise which is a vital piece of maintaining our readiness and contributes to the overall safety of our Army Community.

AKO ACCOUNTS CLOSE, VERIFY YOUR CAC EMAIL, NLT June 30:
The AKO email accounts are shutting down.  While everyone has been switched to the Enterprise Email System; you need to ensure that your CAC certificates are correctly aligned to your enterprise email account.  If your CAC expires in the next 90 days you can make an appointment to renew your CAC now. Your email will be updated when you get your new ID card. The ID Card section has been updating cards in preparation for this action, so you may already have the new email on your CAC.  To determine what email address is on your CAC, log into your computer and follow the next 5-Steps.  1) Go to the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen and look for the small "up arrow." Click on it to reveal more icons.  2) Look for the "Active Client" icon. It looks like a small external smart card reader with a little blue card inserted. Click on the icon and select "Open". 3) Once Active Client opens, double-click on "My Certificates". 4) Look at the center icon, it should have a green check mark on it. Double-click on the icon to open up the certificate properties. 5) The 4th line down should say "Email." If your email address ends in "@mail.mil", your card already has your Enterprise Email (EE) address associated with it.   If your email address still ends with "@us.army.mil," report it to your IMO for further assistance.  

COLLATERAL DUTY EEO COUNSELOR TRAINING, May 11 -15:  
The FS/HAAF Equal Employment Office currently seeks employees to join the Collateral Duty EEO Counselor Team.  Ideal candidates should have the ability to facilitate the communication process, remain neutral, objective, and professional while attempting to resolve employment related issues/concerns as well as gain the confidence of employees and management.  Preferred characteristics of an EEO Counselor candidate should include objectivity, maturity, honesty and an interest in the EEO Process.  Those interested in applying must be able to attend the DA Certified 40-hour Counselor Training Course offered at Fort Stewart May, 11-15, 2015 (you must be in attendance for the entire 40 hours, no exceptions), be a permanent employee at grade GS-09 (or equivalent) and above, dedicate at least 10 percent of your duty time to EEO, and plan to be at FS/HAAF for the next two years.  For more information contact the EEO Office at 767-4074 or the POC, Ms. Bess Stone @ 767-6924 or email janie.k.stone.civ@mail.mil. 

CONTROLLED BURNING, ongoing:
Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. VETERANS PARKWAY TRAFFIC ALERT, Ongoing:
Utility work along Veterans Parkway will require partial lane closures through March 19 for the removal of old utilities from under the roadway.  Motorists could experience delays and should use extra caution in this area.  The POC for this action is Mr. Matt Bolen (DPW Project Manager) at 912-767-7898.         

TRICARE RETIRED BENEFICIARIES WITH MEDICARE:
Beneficiaries who are Medicare-eligible based on a disability can enroll in Prime, as long as they purchase Medicare Part B. They will not have to pay the premiums for Prime since they are already paying for Part B. Active duty beneficiaries do not need to purchase Part B to have coverage under TRICARE, but must be sure to purchase it before the sponsor separates. Beneficiaries who enroll in Prime and have Medicare are considered TRICARE For Life since their claims are processed by the TRICARE For Life claims processor. ASAP TRAINING, March 11:
Quarterly Substance Abuse training will be conducted at the Education Center on March 11 in the Auditorium from 9-10 a.m., 10:10-11 a.m., 10:15 - 11:15 a.m., 1-2 p.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m.  Per AR 600-85, Army Substance Abuse Program, Chapter 2-19, paragraph b, Soldiers and civilians are required to receive annual training to ensure awareness of the Army Substance Abuse Program.  For more information, contact Lucinda Johnson-Wallace, M.A., LAPC, CPP, Prevention Coordinator, at 767-1146.

TAX CENTERS OPEN ON TRAINING HOLIDAYS, March 17:
Still need to file your taxes?  The Marne Tax Centers at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be open on the Tuesday, March 17 Training Holiday (-St. Patrick's Day-) for APPOINTMENTS and drop off returns.  Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  We will be closed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch.  Please bring military IDs and Social Security Cards, all statements of income (i.e., W-2 forms and 1099 forms), rental property documents, mortgage interest statements, etc.  Call (912) 767-1040 for appointments at Fort Stewart, or (912) 315-3675 at Hunter AAF.    

GARRISON COMMANDER SUPERVISOR TRAINING-HAAF, Mar. 19 and Mar. 26:
The Garrison Commander will conduct mandatory training for all Garrison Civilian Supervisors and those in uniform that supervise Garrison Civilians, AF and NAF Mar. 19 from 1-2 p.m. at the HAAF ACS Bldg. 1286.  A make-up session will be held Mar. 26 from 9-10 a.m. at the HAAF ACS Bldg. 1286. 'I WAS THERE" FILM WORKSHOP, April 13-16:
“I was There” Film Workshop: Patton Veteran’s Project, Inc. is visiting Fort Stewart from 13-16 April for an all-female Soldier’s workshop. These interactive half-day workshops allow participants to tell their own service-related stories through film while collaborating, sharing ideas, and learning the art of film making. STATE OF THE GARRISON, Apr. 14 and Apr. 16:
Col. Kevin Gregory, US Army Garrison Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, will conduct the bi-annual Fort Stewart State of the Garrison, Tues. Apr. 14, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Main Post Chapel.  Lt. Col. Will Bowman, Garrison Commander, Hunter Army Airfield, will conduct the Hunter State of the Garrison Thurs., Apr. 16, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Hunter Chapel.  Topics include IMCOM CG priorities, Leadership change, Things We Are Proud Of, What's Next, Resources, and Awards.  The State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce, and are open to all Garrison employees. LMFRF GOLF TOURNAMENT, April 13:  Opportunity for up to five Soldiers who are either a Wounded Warrior / Purple Heart Recipient or in the rank of E-6 and below to golf for free in the LMFRF Golf Tournament. BUDWEISER CLYDESDALES AT STEWART EVENT, Thursday (March 12):
See the world renowned Budweiser Clydesdales up close during a Hitching Demonstration/Parade of the Hitch event (weather permitting) Thursday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Newman Field. There also will be a Folds of Honor Scholarship presentation and announcement of winners of a Stewart/Hunter “Here’s to the Heroes” essay contest. CORKAN FAMILY FUN CENTER TO REOPEN WITH “NEW” ROLLER RINK, Friday (March 13):
Flooring of the roller rink at Corkan Family Fun Center has been replaced and new padded, carpeted safety barrier walls have been installed, clearing the way for the center to reopen March 13 at 3 p.m. The center also offers Laser Tag, Bounce Houses and 3-D Climbing. POWERLIFTING & BENCH PRESS CHALLENGE AT STEWART, Saturday (March 14):
Compete in the Powerlifting & Bench Press Challenge at Newman Fitness Center on Saturday. The fee is $25 per person. Contestants must be 16 or older to enter and will be placed into one of 11 different weight classes (male and female). USPF rules apply and lifting shirts allowed.  Awards to top three bench press and power lifters and each paying participant receives a T-shirt. EXTREME COLOR RUN AT HOLBROOK POND RECREATION AREA, March 28:
Register at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel Offices or online at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Stewartrectrac.html for the Extreme Color Run at 9 a.m. March 28. The untimed event will take runners approximately five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. The runners will be “colored” as they pass different color stations the length of the run. Registration is $30 per person. The fee is $40 at sign-up table on day of event. MANAGED HOG HUNT AT STEWART, March 28:
Hunters who would like to participate in a Managed Hog Hunt in Delta Complex at Fort Stewart on March 28 should register at the Stewart or Hunter Pass & Permit office before March 19. Gold Star Family Members, Purple Heart recipients and WTB Soldiers will receive special invitations to attend. Hunt is also open to Active Duty Soldiers and Retirees. TELFAIR MUSEUMS OFFER FREE ADMISSION TO MILITARY, through Veterans Day 2015:
