NEW VISITOR CONTROL CENTER HOURS, April 1 - 30:
The Directorate of Emergency Services will close the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Visitor Control Centers between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.  This measure is being taken to help the Garrison's ability to determine future planning efforts of our Access Control and Visitor Control Measures.  All visitors who have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID to access post unescorted will be able to access post as normal.  Visitors who do not have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID will not be granted unescorted access to the installation and will be required to have a valid Common Access Card / Military ID holder physically meet them at Gate 1 (FS) or the Montgomery Gate (HAAF) for access.  The valid ID Holder will be the visitor's "Sponsor" while on the installation.  Once the sponsor meets their guest at the gate they will be allowed to follow their sponsor in their vehicle to their final destination.  Visitors will be logged onto post once the sponsor arrives at the gate.  The Sponsor will be responsible and held accountable to maintain positive control of those they escort on and off the installation.  Sponsors are also responsible for the personal conduct of their visitors.  Only valid Sponsors 18 and older will be allow to sponsor Guests/Visitors during this time period.  Up to five visitors will be allowed per sponsor. Sponsors who fail to obey this directive could lose the privilege of sponsoring future guests or visitors.  Your cooperation and patience is requested during this time period.  For questions or concerns relating to this Test Phase please contact Art Weston, Chief of Physical Security at (912) 767-1883.

TODAY/THIS WEEK 

EQCC MEETING, Tuesday (March 31):
IAW AR 200-1, the Garrison Commander will chair the Environmental Quality Control Committee Meeting Tuesday (March 31st). The meeting will begin at the Forestry Office located at 2031 GA Hwy 144E (Bldg 8064).  All attendees are responsible for their own transportation to the Forestry Office. After arriving at the Forestry Office, attendees will then be transported via government buses to a forestry presentation and controlled burn demonstration within the training area. Attendees should arrive no later than noon as buses will be leaving promptly. Participants are reminded to dress accordingly as the majority of the meeting/tour will be outside. The EQCC helps the Installation in meeting environmental management responsibilities. Brigade representation, Garrison Directors, Rear Detachments, Tenant Orgs, and Environmental Compliance Officers are required to attend or send a representative. LANDINGS MILITARY FAMILY RELIEF FUND GOLF TOURNAMENT, April 13, 2015:  Opportunity for up to five Soldiers who are either a Wounded Warrior / Purple Heart Recipient or in the rank of E-6 and below to golf for free in the Landings Military Family Relief Fund Golf Tournament, April 13, 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Interested Soldiers should email the Marne Community Outreach Team at: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.comrel@mail.mil .

ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH, April: Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will kick off their Alcohol Awareness Month Campaign by sponsoring a presentation by the Georgia State Patrol highlight the consequences of alcohol use and abuse. All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity, the ASAP will count the training hrs toward each unit’s minimum 4 hr annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement, April 2.  Classes are 9-10 a.m., 10:15-11:15 a.m. 1-2 p.m., and 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. at the Hunter Post Theater, Bldg 1282. KIDS’ PARADE, PEP RALLY TO LAUNCH STEWART/HUNTER MONTH OF THE MILITARY CHILD CELEBRATION, Wednesday (April 1):
Stewart/Hunter’s celebration of the Month of the Military Child kicks off Wednesday (April 1) with a parade and pep rally. The Grand Opening Parade at Stewart will be held in the parking area of building 403 CDC and Marne Bowling Center at 9:30 a.m. Youngsters from other Stewart CDCs will join in the march, sporting colorful banners and T-shirts to demonstrate their pride at being a Military Kid. Hunter will begin its celebration at 9:30 a.m. with a colorful Pep Rally at building 8805, 2599 S. Perimeter Road. Children from CDCs on Hunter will sing songs and be a part of all the fun. Parents and the public are invited. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Celebrating Military Children: Their Lives, Their Stories.”  

APRIL IS AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH: 
According to recent statistics, Autism effects 1 out of every 68 children.  During the month of April, ACS EFMP representatives will conduct information tables at different locations at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field. Autism is diagnosed in1 out of every 68 children.  If you have questions about your child’s development, ask your medical provider. 

STEWART/HUNTER BASKETBALL CHAMPS TO PLAY AT TOMINAC FOR 3RD ID CROWN, April 1:
Fort Stewart's HHC 3D SSB will play Hunter's HSC 224th MI at Tominac Fitness Center on Wednesday (April 1) to determine who has the best basketball team in the Third Infantry Division. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. There is no charge. For more information, call 912-767-8238. 

SPRING CARNIVAL AT WALKER FIELD, Thursday-Sunday (April 2-5):
The carnival, featuring at least 19 major, super and children’s rides, plus skill games, is coming to Walker Field at Fort Stewart Thursday (April 2) through Sunday (April 5). Bring the whole Family out for an afternoon or an evening of fun. Save by purchasing ride tickets in quantity or arm bands, covering unlimited rides for the night. Food and games will be individually priced. No outside coolers or food permitted. LIGHT IT UP BLUE:  World Autism Awareness Day is April 2:
Light It Up Blue is a campaign to honor people with autism worldwide.  Last year, over 10,000 events and buildings went blue last year! By lighting it up blue, 7 p.m. April 2 at the Main Post Chapel; and throughout April, we can start a conversation about autism.  Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Air Field will display blue lights throughout the month of April. 

ACS EFMP EASTER EGG HUNT, April 2:
Exceptional Family Member Program Easter Egg hunt April 2 at the EFMP playground located next to the PX. The time of the event is 5-7 p.m. EFMP Children from ages 3-5 and 6-10. We will have plenty of eggs, balloons and loads of fun. Please call to register at (912) 767-5058. 

HUNTER FIRE WARDEN CLASS, April 2:
The next HAAF fire warden’s class will be held April 2 at 9 a.m. in Fire Station Number 2 Building 1295. All attendees are asked to bring a unit appointment letter stating they are the assigned fire warden for their unit/location with building number identified. DPTMS OFFICE CLOSURES, April 2:
Due to a mandatory "All Hands Briefing", Employee Honors and Awards Ceremony, offices of the DPTMS will be closed or minimally staffed from 12:30-3:30 p.m., Thursday,  April 2. Normal operations will resume Friday, 3 April 2015. For more information, call 912-767-2511 or 912-767-8135. 

TODDLER EASTER EGG HUNT AT CORKAN, Friday (April 3):

Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Raider and Vanguard DFACs.  Vanguard DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal on 2 April and will reopen with the breakfast meal on 7 April. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday on 3 - 6 April, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper on 2 April).  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.  

FS WEEKDAY MEAL HOURS:

The Fort Stewart Multi-Cultural Gospel Service hosts its Ministry Music Workshop/Concert; featuring national Gospel Recording Artist, Minister David Bratton, songwriter of “Every Praise” as the workshop clinic, April 9-11 at the Main Post Chapel on Fort Stewart to help perfect its Ministry of Music and build partnerships with local pastors in Liberty County and surrounding areas and other FS/HAAF chapel congregations. 

HAAF "BUTTER ME UP" BAKE OFF, April 10:

STATE OF THE GARRISON, Apr. 14 and Apr. 16:
Col. Kevin Gregory, US Army Garrison Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, will conduct the bi-annual Fort Stewart State of the Garrison, Tues. Apr. 14, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Main Post Chapel.  Lt. Col. Will Bowman, Garrison Commander, Hunter Army Airfield, will conduct the Hunter State of the Garrison Thurs., Apr. 16, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Hunter Chapel.  Topics include IMCOM CG priorities, Leadership change, Things We Are Proud Of, What's Next, Resources, and Awards.  The State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce, and are open to all Garrison employees. 

TEA TIME WITH TODDLERS, April 16:
Come join us at the Family Advocacy Program's Tea Time with Toddlers 10:30 a.m. to Noon April 16. FAMILY FUN RUN/WALK, April 18:
The ACS Family Advocacy Program will be hosting a Family Fun Run/Walk. Saturday April 18; 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Youth Center-building 6054-N. perimeter Rd. Please bring your entire family to participate. The event is in observance of Child Abuse Awareness Month. This is a 1.4 mile event strollers and carriages are allowed. TRAFFIC WARNING ON SIGMA STREET, through April 27:
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as railroad crossing construction is planned for Sigma Street from March 27 from 6 a.m. until April 27. DPW is only closing areas around the 5 railroad crossings on Sigma Street.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call James Maddox at DPW at 767-5027. 

MEDDAC VOLUNTEER RECOGNITION CEREMONY, April 29:

MONTHLY TOBACCO CESSATION CLASS, April 29:

Army Public Health Nursing in conjunction with the Army Wellness Center is conducting monthly tobacco cessation classes.  The next class is March 29, 9 to 10 a.m. at the Army Wellness Center located at 844 Gulick Ave., Fort Stewart.  Classes will provide tools on how to become tobacco free and how to stay tobacco free if you have already quit.  Open to all Active Duty, Retirees, Military Beneficiaries and DoD Civilians (MEDDAC, DENTAC, & VETCOM only). CREDIT MANAGEMENT, April 29:

TINY TOT CARNIVAL, April 30:
Do you have little children? Bring them to the Family Advocacy Program's Tiny Tot Carnival on April 30, 2015 from 10 a.m. to Noon. This event will be held at the ACS Parking Lot. Army Emergency Relief – Making a Difference. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

MARNE MESSAGE GOES TO ONCE-A-WEEK, April 6:
Effective April 6 the Marne Message changes to a weekly publication each Monday.   The Marne Message will continue to be posted to http://marnemessage.blogspot.com.  The Marne Message submission email address is USARMY Fort Stewart ID List ALL Message Request (on the global) or typed as: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. In order to keep the Marne Message timely and concise, limit submissions to 75 words or less. Do not use military times. Attachments cannot be included, but links to more online information can. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered.

TRAFFIC WARNING ON SIGMA STREET, March 27:
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as railroad crossing construction is planned for Sigma Street from March 27 from 6 a.m. until April 27. DPW is only closing areas around the 5 railroad crossings on Sigma Street.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call James Maddox at DPW at 767-5027.

NEW VISITOR CONTROL CENTER HOURS, April 1 - 30:
The Directorate of Emergency Services will close the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Visitor Control Centers between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.  This measure is being taken to help the Garrison's ability to determine future planning efforts of our Access Control and Visitor Control Measures.  All visitors who have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID to access post unescorted will be able to access post as normal.  Visitors who do not have a valid pass or Common Access Card / Military ID will not be granted unescorted access to the installation and will be required to have a valid Common Access Card / Military ID holder physically meet them at Gate 1 (FS) or the Montgomery Gate (HAAF) for access.  The valid ID Holder will be the visitor's "Sponsor" while on the installation.  Once the sponsor meets their guest at the gate they will be allowed to follow their sponsor in their vehicle to their final destination.  Visitors will be logged onto post once the sponsor arrives at the gate.  The Sponsor will be responsible and held accountable to maintain positive control of those they escort on and off the installation.  Sponsors are also responsible for the personal conduct of their visitors.  Only valid Sponsors 18 and older will be allow to sponsor Guests/Visitors during this time period.  Up to five visitors will be allowed per sponsor. STATE OF THE GARRISON, Apr. 14 and Apr. 16:
Col. Kevin Gregory, US Army Garrison Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, will conduct the bi-annual Fort Stewart State of the Garrison, Tues. Apr. 14, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Main Post Chapel.  Lt. Col. Will Bowman, Garrison Commander, Hunter Army Airfield, will conduct the Hunter State of the Garrison Thurs., Apr. 16, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Hunter Chapel.  Topics include IMCOM CG priorities, Leadership change, Things We Are Proud Of, What's Next, Resources, and Awards.  The State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce, and are open to all Garrison employees.

COMMANDING GENERAL’S GOLF SCRAMBLE AT TAYLORS CREEK GOLF COURSE, Friday (March 27):
The Commanding General’s Par 3 Golf Scramble will be held at Taylors Creek Golf Course on Friday, March 27. Registration will continue until 11 a.m. that day.  The $45 per person fee includes range balls, lunch, golf car and greens fees. Lunch begins at noon and play begins at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start. EXTREME COLOR RUN AT HOLBROOK POND RECREATION AREA, Saturday (March 28):

The untimed event will take runners approximately five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. Runners will be “colored” as they pass different color stations the length of the run. The untimed event will take runners approximately five kilometers through Holbrook’s campground and tank trails. INSTALLATION EMERGENCY RESPONSE EXERCISE, March 16 - 20:  Between March 16 - 20, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will conduct an Emergency Response Exercise.  This exercise will test our ability to respond to events which could happen here.  You may hear announcements or warning sirens over our Emergency Warning System and Emergency Services sirens on vehicles.  As a result of the exercise, you may experience delays at gates and facilities, or be asked to remain indoors until the all clear is given.  Please follow the instructions given over the address system or in the building or activity in which you are located. For the exercise, we will use all forms of communication which include, but are not limited to reader boards, Marne TV, Social Media, and the Early Warning System.  All exercise announcements will be prefaced with "EXERCISE-EXERCISE-EXERCISE”.  At any time if you hear any announcements that do not begin with “EXERCISE-EXERCISE-EXERCISE”, it is a real announcement and you must respond to the instructions.  Please be patient while we conduct this exercise which is a vital piece of maintaining our readiness and contributes to the overall safety of our Army Community.
 
TODAY/THIS WEEK 

DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE:  Celebrate Responsibly.  Designate a Driver.  Fort Stewart and Hunter Police will be actively conducting DUI checkpoints beginning March 14 in various location on the installations and Ga. highways 144, 119, and Ga. highway 47.  Two services are available to Soldiers needing assistance on St. Patrick's Day. The 3ID Courtesy Patrol, 912-435-0731, is available for Soldiers who drink too much and need assistance, as well as 'Tow To Go' services from AAA at 855-286-9246. Soldiers and/or vehicles can be towed for free within a 10-mile radius.

TRAFFIC WARNING:  Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, March 17 from 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. March 17 until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

COLLATERAL DUTY EEO COUNSELOR TRAINING, May 11 -15:

AKO ACCOUNTS CLOSE, VERIFY YOUR CAC EMAIL, NLT June 30:
The AKO email accounts are shutting down.  While everyone has been switched to the Enterprise Email System; you need to ensure that your CAC certificates are correctly aligned to your enterprise email account.  If your CAC expires in the next 90 days you can make an appointment to renew your CAC now. Your email will be updated when you get your new ID card. The ID Card section has been updating cards in preparation for this action, so you may already have the new email on your CAC.  To determine what email address is on your CAC, log into your computer and follow the next 5-Steps.  1) Go to the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen and look for the small "up arrow." Click on it to reveal more icons.  2) Look for the "Active Client" icon. It looks like a small external smart card reader with a little blue card inserted. Click on the icon and select "Open". 3) Once Active Client opens, double-click on "My Certificates". 4) Look at the center icon, it should have a green check mark on it. Double-click on the icon to open up the certificate properties. 5) The 4th line down should say "Email." If your email address ends in "@mail.mil", your card already has your Enterprise Email (EE) address associated with it.   If your email address still ends with "@us.army.mil," report it to your IMO for further assistance.

100 YEARS OF STEAM, March 21, 22:
Families are welcome to join us at the Georgia State Railroad Museum during the weekend of March 21st to help celebrate over 100 years of steam technology. March begins the official summer operation of our fully restored 1913 Steam Locomotive #30 at Georgia State Railroad Museum.   Throughout the weekend there will be train tours of the site. Visitors will also have the opportunity to talk to the engineer and go behind the scenes to learn about the restoration of the #15 -- a 101 year-old steam locomotive. Blacksmiths will be working and operating the power hammer. Visitors can experience a demonstration of the 1858 Smith & Porter Stationary Steam Engine, see how steam engines were used to power other machines through the use of a line shaft, join a Pullman rail car tour, and operate our handcar.  Admission to Georgia State Railroad Museum is required. The Marne Message submission email address is USARMY Fort Stewart ID List ALL Message Request (on the global) or typed as: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. In order to keep the Marne Message timely and concise, limit submissions to 75 words or less. Do not use military times. Attachments cannot be included, but links to more online information can. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered. Effective November 1, 2014, the Marne Message is only sent twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. The deadline for the Monday Marne Message is COB Friday, and the deadline for the Thursday Marne Message is COB Wednesday.  All incoming requests for Marne Messages will still be posted to the Google Blogger (ref. Marne Messages).
