DPTMS, SECURITY DIVISION CLOSURE, Friday; Offices will be closed due to organizational day activities. This includes all security related services such as fingerprinting and child related background checks. The office will be open on Monday.

 

ARMY COMMUNITY SERVICE OFFICE CLOSURE, Friday:

The Army Community Service Office located at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be closed.  The SHARP and Victim Advocates will still be available/. EXTREME DODGEBALL INTEREST MEETING, Today:

Youth ages 11-17 who are interested in playing extreme dodgeball are invited to meet at 6:00 p.m. at the Youth Activities Center Bldg. 5655 to discuss forming a league. Rules, regulations, team play and schedules will be discussed. For more information, call 912-767-4491.

 

JUNIOR GOLF CLINIC AT TAYLORS CREEK, Today:

Junior golfers ages 7-16 will learn grip, stance and posture on the putting green, then move on to the range and hit golf balls during the Junior Clinic from 4-5 p.m. at Taylors Creek Golf Course. GRIDIRON CHALLENGE FOOTBALL FRENZY BEGINS, Today:

If you enjoy picking weekly NFL winners, and want to see how your skill matches up with others, the Gridiron Challenge Football Frenzy every Friday in Warriors Lounge at Club Stewart was made for you. The kickoff party for the Football Frenzy season is at 7:00 p.m. There’s no admission charge, but you must be 21 or older to drink. Each week thereafter, the person who picked the most winners will win a prize. The total wins will be kept on file and after 17 weeks, a prize will be awarded to the person with the most winning picks. CORKAN OUTDOOR POOL OPEN FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY:

The Corkan Outdoor Swimming Pool will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Friday through Sunday. A water issue at Fort Stewart last weekend prevented opening of the pool. The pool will close for the summer on September 14. 

 

PATRIOT'S DAY COMMEMORATION, LIGHT UP THE NIGHT 5K, AFTER PARTY, Friday:

A Patriots Day Commemoration, originally scheduled for Cottrell Field, has been moved to Newman Field and will begin at 7:00 p.m. The commemoration will precede the start of the Light Up the Night Glow 5K Run/Walk and After Party at Newman Field. Participants will remember Gold Star Families, first responders and all those who were lost Sept. 11. The start/finish of the 5K run will take place on Sixth Street adjacent to the Quick Track across from Newman Fitness Center. Family fun games will take place during the After Party. In the event of inclement weather, the Commemoration and the After Party will be held in Newman Fitness Center. For more information, call 912-767-2515.

 

LOCATION CHANGE FOR HOLBROOK MOVIES UNDER THE STARS, Friday: 

"Guardians of the Galaxy,” rated PG-13, has been moved from Holbrook Pond Recreation Area to Jordan Fitness Center, Bldg. 608. “Guardians” will be shown starting at 8:00 p.m. The film, a part of the “Movies Under the Stars” series, is free. Popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase. Moviegoers can bring blankets, pillows and chairs. For more information, call 912-767-4316.

 

BOWLING CENTER CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY WITH DISCOUNTS, Friday:

Stewart Bowling Center, Bldg. 450, will celebrate its 50th anniversary by offering bowling games for 50 cents per person and bowling shoe rental for 50 cents per person from 1-9:00 p.m. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 

HUNTER GARRISON COMMANDER’S FOOT GOLF SCRAMBLE, Friday:

Hunter Garrison Commander LTC Michael T. Squires invites all to participate in his four-person Foot Golf Scramble starting at 9:00 a.m., at Hunter Golf Course. The cost is $20 per person for the tournament fee, golf cart, light lunch and prizes. It is $15 without a golf cart. Players are asked to register by Thursday. BOSS CAR, TRUCK & BIKE SHOW, Saturday:

A BOSS Car, Truck & Bike Show, with more than $800 in prizes to be awarded, will be held in the Exchange Parking Lot on Fort Stewart. Cost to compete is $20 per vehicle or $10 per bike. Registration will be from 9:30-10 a.m. on the day of the event. Judging will begin at 11 a.m. and an awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Bike categories are overall, cruiser and sport. Car/Truck categories are classic, new muscle, new import (2005+) old import, best truck/SUV, and best overall and most modified. “REMEMBER OUR FALLEN” EXHIBIT NOW OPEN:

Join us for the opening ceremony with a free community reception at the Hinesville City Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m. The exhibit is a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice made by 205 service members from Georgia. The photo exhibit, which includes military and personal photos of each of Georgia’s Fallen, is traveling throughout the state and will be on display at Hinesville City Hall. PATRIOT DAY COMMEMORATION, Friday:

The 3rd Infantry Division and Fort Stewart Garrison command will honor those who have served in defense of the Nation during the war on Terrorism and all the lives affected by the September 11th attacks. The Patriot Day Commemoration will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Cottrell Field and is open to everyone. MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY FOOTBALL GAME SLATED, Friday:

The Richmond Hill High School Touchdown Club invites the Marne Community to come out and support two local high school football teams as they compete head to head in regional competition. The Richmond Hill Wildcats will host the Tigers of Bradwell Institute. This year’s game is also the Annual Military Appreciation Football Game and will be played at 7:30 p.m. in Richmond Hill High School Football Stadium.  A salute to veterans of US Wars will occur during the halftime program. NATIONAL SCLEROSIS SOCIETY'S FAMILY & FRIENDS DAY PLANNED, Saturday:

The Georgia Chapter of the National Sclerosis Society will host a day of fellowship for disabled young adults, friends and families from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Halstrom Lake Pavilion on Hunter Army Airfield.
