This retirement seminar is scheduled from 9-11:00 a.m. at Club Stewart, Palmetto Room, Bldg. 405. ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF POLICY CHANGE, Ongoing:

All Soldiers regardless of rank will have direct access to assistance from Army Emergency Relief (AER). Previously soldiers in pay grades E-1 – E-4 required the signed approval of their company commander or first sergeant. The new policy reduces wait time for soldiers and administrative time for commanders and first sergeants.  “MARNE ROCK STAR” NOMINATION UNDERWAY, Ongoing:

Under the direction of the 3rd ID Commanding General, units are asked to support this community outreach event designed to recognize the efforts of private citizens who make a difference in the Marne community. These individuals have enhanced the quality of life for our soldiers and their families. Individuals designated as “Marne Rock Stars” will be recognized at the upcoming Division Ball and will have their photograph permanently displayed in Division Headquarters. FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, September: 

The Fort Stewart and HAAF Dining Facilities cordially invite DA Civilians and Family Members to dine with us at Legion (Bldg. 207, 660 Harmon Ave and Thunder Café (Bldg. 3003, 1600 W. 6th Street). The DFACs will be open for weekday breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, Monday-Friday. Weekend/holiday hours begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday, September 4, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper on September 3. SHOW CAUTION AS THE AREA IS IMPROVED, now through November 6:

Georgia Power will be clearing trees and vegetation on the Northern side of Hero Road from the Georgia Power Substation to Fort Stewart road 47. HUNTER TRAFFIC WARNING FOR NORTH PERIMETER ROAD, now through December 07: 

Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Hunter Army Airfield as road construction is planned for North Perimeter Road between Wilson Blvd and Gannam Ave. Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the road closure.  Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW, Ben Seacrist at 912-767-3269 or 912-228-7114.

 

FIELD SANITATION TEAM TRAINING PLANNED, September 21-24:

SUICIDE PREVENTION PRESENTATION SCHEDULED, September 25:

In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, this Installation will host Dr. Mark L De Santis, Neuropsychologist, will provide a brief lecture on Suicide Prevention and will present the HBO Oscar winning documentary on the Veteran crisis line. CHANGES TO MAILING OFFICIAL MAIL PLANNED, September 25-30:

The DHR OMDC Bldg. 418 at Fort Stewart and OMDC Bldg.1212 at Hunter Army Airfield, will not be Metering Official Mail beginning at 1:00 p.m. on September 25 – 30, due to the End of Year close-out. Please plan to have all of your Official Mail to us before that date and time. GATE ACCESS CREDENTIAL CHANGE, beginning Oct. 1:

The RAPIDGate Credentials that were issued to Contractors and Vendors for access either Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield from any of the Access Control Points will no longer be used as a tool or method to access either Installations on the effective date.  Military CAC, DA Civilian CAC, Family Member ID Cards, Retiree ID Cards and AIE Access Cards are not affected by the discontinued use of the RAPIDGate Credential. SPECIALIZED TRANSITIONING EVENT PLANNED, November 5:

The Soldier & Family Assistance Center is scheduled to host Growth, Progression and Strength event from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Stewart Main Post Chapel. The target audience for the event includes Warrior Transition Battalion Soldiers, their family members and caregivers. The Office of The Judge Advocate General is now accepting applications for the Army's Funded Legal Education Program and will send up to 25 active duty commissioned officers to law school at government expense. LIMITED SERVICES AT STEWART BOWLING CENTER DURING RENOVATION, September 15-30:

There will be no bowling, but the Corner Café at Stewart Bowling Center, Bldg. 450, will continue to serve customers during a renovation project. New Glo Bowl lanes, as well as new carpet and tile in customer areas, will be installed during renovation. Bowling will resume Oct. 1. Meanwhile, hours of operation for the Corner Café will be 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Friday and noon-6:00 p.m. Sundays. REGISTER FOR COMPANY-LEVEL DODGEBALL LEAGUE AT HUNTER:

Each week, the person who picks the most winners will win a prize. YOUTH CENTER FAVORITE TEAM JERSEY DANCE SCHEDULED, Friday:   

A Youth Center Favorite Team Jersey Dance will be held from 7-10:00 p.m. at the Youth Fitness Center, Bldg. 7338. The dance will feature a live DJ, light refreshments, games and door prizes. FINAL ROUND OF STEWART/HUNTER OPERATION RISING STAR COMPETITION PLANNED, Friday:

The final round of the Stewart/Hunter Operation Rising Star competition will be held at 6:30 p.m. at Thunder Run. There’s no charge to watch the competition. First prize is $750 and a chance to advance in the Army-wide competition. Second prize is $350 and third $200. Family Readiness Groups or units are eligible to win the Spirit Award -- $300 toward their unit funds – or other prizes, regardless of whether they have a competitor in the competition. "STRONGMAN/STRONGWOMAN" COMPETITION SCHEDULED AT STEWART, Saturday:           

Registration is under way for the Strongman/Strongwoman Competition at Johnson Fitness Center, Bldg. 8437. Cost is $15 per person. Sign-up at Johnson or Newman Fitness Centers. Weigh-in is at 8:30 a.m., competition at 10 a.m. Open to Active Duty, retirees and DA civilians, who will compete in five events: Tire Flip, Keg Toss, Stone Carry, Farmers Walk, and Deadlifts. NFL PUNT, PASS & KICK COMPETITION PLANNED, September 25:

Boys and girls ages 6-15 will participate in all three events (punt, pass, kick) for a total score and a chance to advance to the sectional competition. Competition will be 5:30 p.m. at Youth Sports Football Complex on Green Street, Fort Stewart. Boys and girls compete separately. A flag football double elimination tournament will be held at Bennett Sports Complex, building 471. POST-WIDE HOUSING GARAGE SALE AT STEWART & HUNTER SCHEDULED, October 3:

Everyone's invited (Military and Non-Military) to the neighborhood garage sale throughout post housing areas on Stewart and Hunter from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Only residents of post housing are eligible to sell. IRONMAN SHOOT AT HUNTER SKEET/TRAP RANGE SLATED, October 10:

Participants in the Ironman Shoot, scheduled from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Hunter Skeet/Trap Range, will compete in one round of skeet, one round of trap, and one round of 5-stand. CULTURAL CELEBRATION, FESTIVAL PLANNED, Saturday, Sunday Since 1990, the Ocmulgee Indian Celebration has fostered public awareness of their rich heritage with the community. This year’s celebration will take place each day from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Ocmulgee National Monument located at 1207 Emery Highway in Macon, Ga. HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THE COMMUNITY, October 3:

The Marne Community & Spouses club will host a “Boil and Baskets” auction at the Richmond Hill City Center. The MCSC is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield families in the form of community outreach, academic scholarships and welfare grants. Last year MCSC donated over $30,500 back to the Marne community. This year the auction will feature a traditional low country boil, live music, door prizes along with a silent auction and much more. BRING YOUR COSTUME, RUN AT THE PEMBROKE “SPOOKTACULAR,” October 24:

Pembroke Spooktacular features a costume friendly 5K run/walk and a 10K run over and around the railroad tracks throughout the City of Pembroke from 8-11:00 a.m. And just to make this run interesting, the course runs through the local cemetery. The Marne Message is a weekly publication posted to email each Monday and to the Marne Message Blogger at http://marnemessage.blogspot.com.  The Marne Message submission email address is USARMY Fort Stewart ID List ALL Message Request (on the global) or typed as: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. In order to keep the Marne Message timely and concise, limit submissions to 75 words or less. Do not use military times. Attachments cannot be included, but links to more online information can. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered.

 

WANT TO GET MARNE MESSAGES?

Individuals wishing to get the Marne Message, who do not have a Fort Stewart - Hunter Military Email Account, can visit the 3rd Infantry Division on Facebook page at:  www.facebook.com/3rd.Infantry.Division. If you have a Fort Stewart - Hunter Military Email Account and don’t automatically get the Marne Message, you can request an account by sending an email to “USARMY Ft Stewart 3 ID Mailbox Marne Message” or usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. IF YOU HAVE PCS'D:

If you have moved and are no longer assigned to Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield, follow these instructions to change your duty location. Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc.).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.  If you have any problems, send an email to “USARMY Ft Stewart 3 ID Mailbox Marne Message” or usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil.
