DPW ORGANIZATION DAY CLOSURE, Friday:
The Directorate of Public Works will be closed Friday due to its Organization Day. Normal duty hours and services will resume Oct. 20. HAAF FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE, Saturday:
The Hunter Army Airfield Fire Department will be conducting an open house event Saturday, at 01 Gannam Ave, Balfour Betty housing office. The event will run from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Come out and enjoy free food, fire department display and kids events. For more information, call 912-315-2009.

SAVE THOSE JUGS!

Now that you have finished drinking the liquids (milk, tea, juice, etc.) out of those 1-gallon milk jugs, don't throw them away! Save them for a recycle project that the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation will be creating AGAIN this year for the Christmas holiday season. Your contribution goes toward making igloos and other seasonal products. You have to see them to believe these awesome scenic display made from your very own recycles! Drop your rinsed-out jugs off at the Fort Stewart FMWR building 443 between the hours of 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. For more information, call 912-767-4316.

STEWART-HAAF RECYCLING POLICY, ongoing:
The FS/HAAF Recycling Center will only take personal e-waste from those living on post. This includes computers, printers, keyboards, telephones, DVD players, modems, etc. No government e-waste will be accepted at the recycling center. Government e-waste shall be taken to Defense Logistics Agency Disposal Services (formerly DRMO) with a completed 1348 form, even if the item(s) is/are not on your property book. For those living off post, please contact your local community recycling center for disposal information. For more information call 912-767-8880.

OCTOBER/OTHER HEADLINES

FRG BROWN BAG, Monday:
ACS will be hosting another FRG Brownbag event Monday, 10 a.m.-noon in building 87. Meet other FRG members from units, discuss what works, best practices and have some fun. The topic will be recruiting volunteers and Holiday/Event planning. Please call FS (912) 767-1257.

UPCOMING ICE TRAINING, Monday & Oct. 27:
ICE Training will be conducted for new ICE managers and any managers who have never attended and as a refresher. All new managers must attend prior to being added to the ICE system.  HAAF ICE Training is Monday, 9-11 a.m., building 1286, Room 167. Fort Stewart ICE Training is Oct. 27, 9-11 a.m., building 1190. DESIGNATED UNIT SECURITY MANAGERS COURSE AVAILABLE, Tuesday-Oct. 24:
IAW FORSCOM Supplement 1 to 380-5, referencing Designated Unit Security Managers, each battalion/activity is required to appoint a DUSM on orders. The DPTMS Security Division SETA Branch conducts a 4 day Security Managers Course (SMC) to prepare individuals to take on the role of DUSM. This will include Information, Personnel, Industrial, Physical, Communication Security, Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and much more. The next course is Tuesday-Oct. 24. Prospective DUSM must bring with them their DUSM Appointment Letter. All 3rd ID individuals requiring training must contact Al Temple, alan.j.temple2.civ@mail.mil or 912-435-9763. HAAF POWER OUTAGE, Oct. 25-26:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Public Works will conduct scheduled power outages, beginning at 7 a.m. on Hunter Army Airfield at the following buildings: 1062, 1060, S-1023, 1024, 1029, 1003, 1034, 1021, 1026, 1020, 1027, 1036, and 1420. The outages are necessary to replace overhead primary. These buildings will be without power for up to 2 days, so please remove any perishable items. REGISTRATION DEADLINE FOR ACES COLLEGE
GRADUATION CEREMONY, Oct 26:
The 33rd Annual College Graduation is 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Main Post Chapel. The event is open to all Military, Family Members, Retirees, and employees if you are within nine semester hours of completing degree requirements or have earned a degree, certificate or diploma since Jan, 2013. STATE OF THE GARRISON, Oct. 28 & 31:
The Garrison workforce is invited to attend the Fort Stewart State of the Garrison workforce brief, Oct. 28, 1-3 p.m., at the Main Post Chapel and the Hunter AAF State of the Garrison workforce brief, Oct. 31, 9-11 a.m., at the Hunter Chapel.  Please be sure to be seated 15-30 minutes prior to start of event.  This event will be your primary place of duty during this time. VMT CLASS, Oct. 29:
ACS Army Volunteer Corps is hosting a Volunteer Management Training Class, Oct. 29 from 9-11 a.m. at Hunter Army Airfield, building 1286, room 167.  The training will include recruitment techniques, interviewing skills, orientation requirements, record keeping, recognition, evaluation, dismissal, and position descriptions.  Please call 912-767-0248 or 767-1257 to register for the training.

HEALTH BENEFITS FAIR, Nov. 18-19:

The Fort Stewart Health Benefits Fair is scheduled 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Nov. 18-19, at the Fort Stewart Education Center in rooms 240 and 242 on Nov. 18 and in rooms 249 and 250 on Nov. 19. PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER TESTING:
Soldiers and civilians with Engineer degrees and at least four years of Engineer experience are encouraged to sit for the Professional Engineer Exam.  The exam is administered in October and April of each year with the next exam scheduled for April 17, 2015. The application deadline is Dec. 1. FMWR NEWS

FORT STEWART FALL CARNIVAL, Today-Sunday:
Pay-as-you-go Carnival at Walker Field (adjacent to Bennett Sports Complex) will be open today-Sunday. Adult and children’s rides, plus food concessions and skill games. Hours of operation will be today 6-10 p.m., Friday 6-11 p.m., Saturday noon -11 p.m. and Sunday 1-11 p.m. Ride fees will range from 3-4 tickets per ride. Carnival-goers can save by purchasing tickets in quantity or by purchasing arm bands for unlimited rides for the night. No weapons, pets, coolers or food allowed on site. ‘DAWN OF THE ZOMBIES 5K RUN AT HOLBROOK POND,’ Saturday:
The “Dawn of the Zombies 5K Run at Holbrook Pond” will get under way, rain or shine,  at 8 a.m. Saturday. Participants can walk or jog the trail. A clock will be in place at the start/finish point for runners who want to record their personal times. Registration fee on the day of the run is $40. LARGE CALIBER RIFLE SHOOT, Sunday:
Large rifle shoot, at the Small Arms November Range on Sunday, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Opportunity for Soldiers, Retirees, Army Civilians, and civilian guests to sight-in large caliber weapons at distances of 25, 50 and 100 meters only. SESAME STREET/USO EXPERIENCE FOR MILITARY FAMILIES AT STEWART, Tuesday & Wednesday:

STEWART/HUNTER OPERATION RISING STAR CONTESTANT SIGN-UP:
Singers from Stewart/Hunter who want to compete in Operation Rising Star have until Wednesday to sign up at either the Stewart Recreation Office in room 125 of building 443, or at the Stewart or Hunter Leisure Travel office. No charge to compete. Open to Active Duty, National Guard or Reserve from any branch of service, or Family Members 18 years of age or older. The three rounds of the local Operation Rising Star competition will be in Thunder Run restaurant at Club Stewart, Oct. 23, Oct. 27 and Oct. 29. First prize is $500, second $250 and third $100. Family Readiness Groups or units are eligible to win the Spirit Award -- $300 toward their unit funds – or other prizes, regardless of whether they have a competitor in the competition. CROSSFIT FORT STEWART WARRIOR CHALLENGE 2014, Oct. 25:

SIGN UP FOR MANAGED HUNTS AT FORT STEWART, Nov. 8, Nov. 22, Dec. 20:
Active Duty Soldiers and Retirees who love to hunt can sign up now for one of three Outdoor Recreation managed hunts at Fort Stewart this season. Sign up at the Stewart or Hunter Pass and Permit offices. The Nov. 8 hunt will be held in Training Area Delta and the deadline for registration is Oct. 29. The second hunt will be Nov. 22 in the Red Cloud Area and the registration deadline is Nov. 12. The third hunt will be in the Bravo 4 area Dec. 20, with a selection drawing on Dec. 10. Fifty participants will be selected in a lottery type drawing when registration ends. A $10 fee per hunter is payable upon selection for the hunt. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered. Marne Messages are posted daily at www.stewart.army.mil, and www.facebook.com/3rd.Infantry.Division>. MESSAGES HAVE A 3-DAY RUN LIMIT; you may, however, re-submit after 3rd day for continuations. Please submit your messages by 9:45 a.m. daily for inclusion in the same-day message.

Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.
