(Today) WINN ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL EXERCISE

Winn Army Community Hospital will conduct an "All Hazards" exercise the week of April 25-29.  This is only a training event.  Please don't be alarmed by the First Responder's Vehicle Sirens. The exercise is conducted to ensure the hospital is able to provide a safe and secure environment for all our beneficiaries, staff, and visitors.

 

(Today through Friday) SPRING CLEAN UP & RECYCLING DRIVES:

Annual Spring clean-up for the Stewart-Hunter installation areas, today through April 29. A recycling drive is at Hunter Army Airfield, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., April 27, in the parking lot on the corner of Duncan Drive and Billy Mitchell Blvd. Recycling drive at Fort Stewart, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., April 28, in the parking lot adjacent to Bennett Sports Complex on Harmon Avenue. (Tuesday) TRAINING RESOURCE CONFERENCE:

S-3's, Operations Sergeants Major, Master Gunners and Schools NCO's are reminded that the next monthly Training Resource Conference will be held Tuesday, April 26, 9:30am, at MOON THEATER. We will schedule training devices, ranges and training areas up through October 2016. The next conference will not be until 31 May 2016.

 

(Wednesday) SMOKING CESSATION CLASS:

Plan to attend the tobacco cessation class April 27 if you are thinking of quitting cigarettes, chew tobacco or have recently quit and want to maintain. (Thursday): HUNT THE GOOD STUFF CONCERT:

Do more of what makes you happy. Fort Stewart Main Exchange lobby from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The ACS Resilience Team cordially invites all Soldiers, Spouses and Department of the Army Civilians, to attend the very first "Hunt the Good Stuff" Concert.  This event features the 3rd ID Rock Band, Audie Murphy's Mixed Tape, April 28. (Thursday) CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS WEAR BLUE CAMPAIGN: 

Please join the Army Community Service (ACS) Family Advocacy Program by wearing blue during the month of April on Wednesdays and Thursday, April 28, to help raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. (Friday) HOT WATER OUTAGE:

The Central Energy Plant will be down for maintenance from the afternoon of April 29 through the evening of May 1 for maintenance. Barracks in the 200, 500, 600, 700 and 800 blocks will be without hot water during this outage. Hot water will remain available in all gyms during the shutdown. (Friday) PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY:

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Army Substance Abuse Program, in partnership with MEDDAC, hosts a Prescription Drug Take Back Day 10-3 p.m. April 29 at the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield commissaries.  Please bring unused, outdated and unwanted medication to dispose of them properly instead of dumping them in toilets.  Please don't bring syringes or asthmatic medications.

 

(Friday) TEEN LOCK-IN AT STEWART’S YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER:

An Operation Megaphone Teen lock-in, part of April’s celebration as Month of the Military Child, will begin at 7 p.m. Friday (April 29) at Fort Stewart’s Youth Activity Center, building 5655 on Mindoro Loop. The event, for registered Middle School and Teens and costs 15 per person. The activity-filled night will include bowling at Marne Bowling Center from 8-10 p.m., a talent show, volleyball, a pool tournament, creative cooking, a basketball tournament and a dance at 4 a.m. The lock-in ends at 7 a.m. Saturday. (Saturday and Sunday) ANNUAL GOLF COURSE CHAMPIONSHIP AT HUNTER:               

Hunter Golf Course club championship, starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday and Sunday (April 30-May 1), is open to all golfers. It is a 36-hole stroke play competition with flighting after the first round. (May) FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY WEEKEND/HOLIDAY SCHEDULE:  

Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Thunder Café and Spartan DFACs.  Spartan DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal on 26 May and will reopen on 31 May with the breakfast meal. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday.  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

 

(May) FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS: 

Thunder Café (Bldg 3003, 1600 W. 6th Street), Marne Bistro (Bldg 726, 1902 William H. (Ongoing) HAYS LIBRARY INTERMITTENT INTERRUPTIONS:

Due to Army Library technology upgrades, Hays Library customers will experience intermittent interruption in services, including borrowing, electronic access and availability of new release material for the next several weeks; the Library will be open regular hours but all services may not be available (or may be limited) for brief periods of time.   Customers with questions or concerns should contact the Library at (912) 767-2828.  We apologize for any inconvenience.

(May 4) SAVE THE DATE/ANNUAL SPRING HISTORIC CEMETERY TOUR:

The Fort Stewart Annual Spring Historic Cemetery Tour is scheduled for May 4, weather permitting. This trip includes tours of Poplar Head, Congressional, Smith and Smith Chapel cemeteries, along with a tour of the Mid Coast Regional Airport. Attendees may dine at the dining facility for lunch cost of $5.55, payable in advance the morning of arrival. (May 6) MCSC GOLF SCRAMBLE:

Marne Community & Spouses Club (MCSC) will hold its annual Golf Scramble on May 6. The event will be held at Taylors Creek Golf Course and is open to the public. Registration ends April 25. The four person scramble will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a variety of contest to include, longest drive and closest to the pin. The hole in one contest is back this year with the chance to win a 2016 Chevrolet from Mike Reed. Individual player fee is $65 or $250 when you register as a team. Opportunity for Soldiers, Retirees, Army Civilians, and civilian guests to sight in large caliber weapons (registered at Fort Stewart) from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. May 7 at Red Cloud Echo Range Complex (off GA Highway 119 North). Rifles of any caliber. No pistols or shotguns. Targets at 100-500 meters (paper) and 750-1,000 meters (steel). Cost is $15 per two-hour block/person. (May 12): TIMBER HARVEST COMPLETION:

Fort Stewart/Hunter Airfield's Forestry Branch began a timber harvest on Fort Stewart adjacent to Hero Road in the vicinity of the wooded area south of Hero Road and west of New Guinea Street. The timber harvest is scheduled for completion by May 12. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m-6 p.m. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling on Hero Road as logging trucks will be using Hero Road as a point of ingress/egress to the timber harvest site. (May 12) EFMP SUPPORT GROUP MEETING:  Hunter Army Airfield ACS will conduct a EFMP Support Group for EFMP Families.  Speakers from the local community as well as ACS Programs will be on hand to answer questions and get specific feedback from your HAAF Team.  Event will be conducted 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 12 at Bldg. #1286.  Call (912) 315-6816 for details.

 

(May 13) FRG Brownbag Scheduled:

(May 14) CANOE/KAYAK FLOAT TRIP ON THE OGEECHEE RIVER:

Enjoy the great outdoors and the Ogeechee River on a Canoe/Kayak Trip starting at 8 a.m. May 14 for just $20 per person (includes transportation). Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Paddlers must be 12 or older. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and to choose between a canoe or kayak when they register at Outdoor Recreation, building 8325 at Holbrook Pond. (May 17) 2016 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR:

Hosted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Management Employee Relations and Labor Law. This one day seminar offers topics unique to Supervisors and Managers of Federal Civilian Employees. If you are a Civilian or Military Supervisor of Civilian employees and would like to learn about conflict management, employee performance issues, your role in the EEO complaint process or how to have a difficult conversation just to name a few, then this seminar is for you! The Leadership Seminar will take place at the Fort Stewart Education Center on May 17 from 8 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.  Space is limited, therefore, registration is required and opens Friday. The Division Engineer will host a Project Management Professional (PMP) “Boot Camp” from May 18-24. This is open to military and civilian personnel. A professional trainer will facilitate the course - designed to prepare participants for the PMP exam. Soldiers who pass the exam gain an additional skill identifier.
