FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, May: 

Legion (Bldg 207, 660 Harmon Ave), Raider (Bldg 642, 1312 William H. Wilson Ave), Thunder Café (Bldg 3003, 1600 W. 6th Street), and Vanguard (Bldg 8439, Vanguard Road). DFACs will be open for weekday breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, Monday -Friday.  Weekend/holiday hours begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday, May 22 - 25, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper, May 21).  Dining Facility information can be found on the Team Stewart webpage at: http://www.stewart.army.mil/info.asp?e=DFAC. FORT STEWART WEEKEND/HOLIDAY DFAC: 

Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Legion and Vanguard DFACs.  Vanguard DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal on May 21 and will reopen with the breakfast meal on 26 May. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday on May 22 - 25, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper on May 21).  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

 

FORT STEWART WEEKDAY MEAL HOURS:

The Fort Stewart Weekday Meal hours are Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Thursday Breakfast hours are; Legion 6-8 a.m.; Raider 5-6:30 a.m.; Thunder Café 5-6:30 a.m.; and Vanguard 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch and Dinner Meal Hours for all DFAC's on Thursday are; Lunch from Noon to 1:30 p.m.; and Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Dinner Meal hours are 4-5:30 p.m.

 

HUNTER AAF CONSOLIDATED DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, May:

HAAF Consolidated DFAC (Bldg 110, 89 William Barksdale Cir) Weekday Meal Hours are Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Meal Hours are breakfast 6:30-7 a.m. & 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m. Weekend and Holiday Meal Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.


BIKE PATH CLOSURE, May 4-15:

The Bike Path along Hero road will be closed May 4-15 from Liberty Street to the bridge toward Main Post. The closure is necessary for the installation of a new water main for the Diamond Elementary School Project. Signs will be posted for the duration of closure. Also motorists should use caution in this area during the construction period.  POC regarding additional information relative to the above is Ben Seacrist, DPW, at 228-7114.

 

CARE TEAM TRAINING, MAY 5:

The time to set up a CARE Team is not when you need one.  Learn how to set up and respond to a Family who requests CARE Team support.  This training will be conducted by ACS on 5 May, 9am to 11:30 a.m. in bldg. 87.  Training covers how to set up teams, entering the house, ways the FRG can support and menu preparation.  Please register for this most important training by calling (912) 767-1257/4047/1597.

 

MILITARY SPOUSE APPRECIATION DAY, May 7 & 8: 

In 1984 President Ronald Reagan recognized the profound importance of spousal commitment to the readiness and well-being of Military members by declaring the Friday before Mother’s Day every year as Military Spouse Appreciation Day.  This event is designed to show appreciation for the sacrifices of Military spouses.  ACS will celebrate and honor our Military Spouses at Fort Stewart on May 7 with displays, an open house and bldg. 86 will have cake and punch.  On May 8, the ACS at HAAF will have a similar event, but be housed in bldg. 1286.  For questions, call FS 767-5058 or HAAF 315-6816.

 

HUNTER FIRE WARDEN CLASS, May 7: 

The next HAAF fire warden’s class will be held May 07 at 9 a.m. in Fire Station Number 2 Building 1295. All attendees are asked to bring a unit appointment letter stating they are the assigned fire warden for their unit/location with building number identified. GARRISON COMMANDER SUPERVISOR TRAINING - FS, May 7 & 19: 

The Garrison Commander will conduct mandatory training for all Garrison Civilian Supervisors and those in uniform that supervise Garrison Civilians, AF and NAF on May 7, from 1-2 p.m. and May 19  1-2 p.m. at the Fort Stewart Education Center Auditorium. A make-up session will be held on May 27, 9-10 a.m. in the Garrison Conference Room, Bldg 624. Sign-in begins 30 minutes prior to start time. All supervisors are required to attend.  Do not bring food or beverages, except water. 2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED, May 8:

Volunteers are needed as huggers, buddies and the cheering section for the Spring Special Olympics game.  This year's event will be held Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Liberty County Recreation Department, 607 Oglethorpe Hwy, Hinesville, GA.  For information contact ACS EFMP, 912-767-5058.

 

USAG WOMEN'S MENTORING PROGRAM, May 8:

The Equal Employment Opportunity Office and Special Emphasis Program Committee is launching the 2nd rotation of the Women's Mentoring Program. This is an eight-month (June 1 - Feb. 8) mentoring opportunity that will allow for the professional development of carefully matched mentoring pairs.  To be eligible for this program, you must be a federal Civilian female employee.  Mentees should be GS 11 and below or NAF equivalent.  Mentors should be GS12 and above or NAF equivalent. SUBSTANCE ABUSE TRAINING, May 26:

Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will conduct the Quarterly Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training 9-10 a.m., 10:15-11:15 a.m., 1-2 p.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m. May 12 at the HAAF Post Theater Bldg 1282.  The theme is Spice Awareness.  All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity. SIGN-UP FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, Ongoing:

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Chaplain's Office offers Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer.  The Hunter VBS is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, June 8-12 at the Hunter Main Post Chapel.  The Stewart VBS is 9 a.m. to Noon daily, June 22-26, at the Main Post Chapel. Our theme this year is "Everest conquering Challenges with God's Mighty Power."  The VBS program is open to Families of active-duty Soldier, military retirees, and DoD Civilians with children who have completed Kindergarten thru 5th Grades. ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF, Through May 15:

Army Emergency Relief – Making a Difference. The AER campaign runs from March 1 through May 15 with the goal of creating greater awareness of the benefits of AER as well as providing Soldiers the opportunity to donate to their fellow Soldiers. COMMUNICATION & ASSERTIVENESS TRAINING, May 15:

TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 

Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

CIVILIAN FITNESS PROGRAM, June 1-Dec. 3:

 Register by May 27 for the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Civilian Employee Wellness and Fitness Program.  Applications are available online at www.stewartmwr.com/ or www.huntermwr.com. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet.  This program lasts 6 months.  The Stewart Program at Newman Fitness Center, B-439 has 25 spaces.  The Hunter Program at Tominac also has 25 spaces.  Hunter employees at MEDDAC, DENTAC and MSE are encouraged to apply.  The Civilian Fitness Program provides opportunities for Civilian Employees to improve their health, well-being and overall resilience. HUNTER TRAFFIC DELAYS, Through June 5:

Expect traffic delays on Hunter Army Airfield, April 28-June 5, in Wilson Acres and New Gannam, along North and South Lightning Road, off of North Perimeter Road and Steven Douglass Street.  Lane closures may be necessary to conduct a smoke test of the sanitary collection system.  Delays may be incurred due to movement of vehicles and personnel.  Please plan accordingly for the delays and slow down and be aware of the workers and equipment in the area.  POC is Kevin Montano, DPW at 912-767-4937 or 912-767-2010.

 

CONTROLLED BURNING, ongoing:

Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. FOOD HANDLERS CLASS, June 29

The May Food Handlers Class has been cancelled.  The next class is Monday June 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. . This class will be held at Winn ACH in the Patriot Auditorium. It is a FREE class, and certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil.  Pre-registration is a REQUIREMENT in order to attend this class, and you must be on time, no-walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on the installation including Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events, etc.

 

UPDATE YOUR GOARMYED EMAIL PREFERRED ADDRESS, before June 30: 

AKO will cease forwarding emails to Army Common Access Card (CAC) holders on June 30.  AKO has already ceased to forward emails to non-CAC accounts.  In order for you to receive information from GoArmyEd you must update your account information and change your Preferred Email address to your @mail.mil account.  To update your record select the "Account Information" link at the bottom of your home page.  Once you update your Preferred Email address please select the "Update Account Information" button. 

 

EARN PROMOTION POINTS WITH ACS CLASSES:

In accordance with AR 600-8-19 paragraph 3-44a. (3), Soldiers can earn four promotion points for each 40 hours of each ACS courses. The ACS courses for promotion points include:  Family Advocacy/New Parent Support Program Classes; Financial Readiness Training Classes; Operation R.E.A.D.Y. FOOT GOLF SCRAMBLE AT HUNTER GOLF COURSE, Friday (May 8):

LTC Will Bowman invites all to play in the Garrison Commander’s Foot Golf Scramble, an event that inaugurates play at Hunter Golf Course of the sport which is growing in popularity across the U.S. The scramble will get under way at 9 a.m. Friday. The 18-hole, foot golf layout is adjacent to the front nine holes of Hunter Golf Course. The cost for the 4-person scramble is $25 per person. Rules are similar to regular golf. MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH AT CLUB STEWART, May 10:

HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD 75TH ANNIVERSARY DUATHLON 5K RUN, May 16:

Hunter Army Airfield 75th Anniversary Duathlon 5K Run, starting at 8 a.m. May 16, will consist of a 5K run on the flight line, a 10-mile bicycle ride around the post perimeter and a 3K run around the headquarters building. AMERICA’S ARMED FORCES KIDS RUN 2015 AT STEWART, HUNTER:

Non-competitive runs, part of a national event in support of Armed Forces Day, start at 9 a.m. May 16 at Jordan Fitness Center (building 608) on Stewart, and at 9 a.m. May 30 at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road on Hunter. The Hunter kids run originally was scheduled for May 16, but was changed so parents can participate in Hunter Army Airfield 75th Anniversary Duathlon 5K Run on that day. Youth aged 5-13 are invited to participate in the kids runs. There’s no charge, and T-Shirts will be awarded to all youth participants. Parents may run with children. HOLBROOK MOVIES UNDER THE STARS SEASON BEGINS, May 16:

The first showing in the popular Holbrook Movies Under the Stars series will be May 16 at 8:30 p.m. and will feature “Big Hero 6.” The film is rated PG and lasts 93 minutes. There’s no charge for the movies, and movie-goers are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets. A vendor will be on hand to sell popcorn and drinks. SPLASHPARK AT CORKAN OPENS, May 18  

“The Springs” Splashpark, building 444 at Cypress Creek, opens for the summer season May 18 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (weather permitting). Admission for those entering the gated area is $2 per person (ages 3 and older). Children (ages 2 and under) free with paying adult. Swimmer diapers are required for children not potty trained. OUTDOOR POOLS OPEN, INDOOR POOLS BEGIN SUMMER SCHEDULES, May 23:

May 23 is opening day for the Corkan and Bryan Village Outdoor Pools at Stewart and the Hunter Outdoor Swimming Pool & Water Spray Park. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on opening day as well as on Sunday, May 24, and on May 25, Memorial Day. The price is $3 daily or $80 for a season pass. Children under 4 years of age free. Passes can be purchased at any outdoor pool when they open. Also effective May 23, the Newman and Tominac indoor pools will be closed on weekends. OKEFENOKEE SWAMP PARK LEISURE TRAVEL TRIP, May 30:

Explore the Okefenokee Swamp Park at Waycross, Ga., with Leisure Travel on May 30. Register by May 18. The cost is $25 per person for transportation and admission. CHEROKEE, N.C. WEEKEND WITH LEISURE TRAVEL, June 12-14:

RUN/BIKE FOR THE HEROES, May 20-25:

Run or Bike Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus. Come out and cheer on these awesome athletes and the House of Heroes cause of modifying the homes for wounded warriors.
