MARNE SPIRIT AWARD NOMINATION PERIOD CLOSES FRIDAY:

TODAY/THIS WEEK
VEHICLE REGISTRATION OFFICE HOUR CHANGES:
Effective today, the operational hours for the FS and HAAF Vehicle Registration Offices will change to 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HUNTER CIF RENOVATIONS:
HAAF CIF warehouse, BLDG 1036, is undergoing renovation beginning today until further notice.  During renovation, routine warehouse customer service will be provided through the Steven Douglas Road entrance.  Customers requiring FLIPL service and general information will continue to use the current CIF office entrance.  For additional information, individuals may contact Mr. Fred Carew at (912) 315-5889.

TRANSITIONING FROM THE ARMY-NEED MONEY FOR COLLEGE, Feb. 18 and 19:
Attend an information session at the Fort Stewart Education Center Wed., Feb. 18 from 3-4 p.m. and Thur., Feb. 19 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m. hosted by CMSgt Al Velez, Senior Enlisted Advisor for Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) and learn about educational assistance DANTES has to offer.  For more information please call 912-767-8331.

HAAF CENTRAL ENERGY PLANT OUTAGE, Feb. 22:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Public Works will be conducting some upgrades to the CEP on Feb. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will affect hot water, heating, and air conditioning in the following buildings: 1324, 1325, 1326, 1354, 1505, 1506, 1509, 1511, 1525, 1527, 1528, and 1529. DENTAL CLINIC CLOSURES FOR MANDATORY TRAINING:

FUEL FACILITY PROTOCOL:
Patrons of the Fort Stewart and HAAF Bulk Fuel Facilities are to be reminded that proper fuel procedures after dispensing fuel is to replace the nozzle back in the dispenser.  This will avoid fuel from leaking and contaminating ground surfaces.  For additional information, individuals may contact Ms. Sylvia Whitfield at (912) 435-0146.

COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT SURVEY, now open: 
The 2015 Community Needs Assessment Survey (CNAS) is open!  All community members, including Soldiers, Family Members, DA Civilians, Contractors, and Retirees are encouraged to take the survey.  The CNAS can be found at http://tinyurl.com/CNAS2015 .  All survey answers are anonymous and the results are used to determine ways to improve the Fort Stewart and HAAF communities.  For more information, contact Division Health Promotion at 435-9959 or 435-0875. 

CONTROLLED BURNING, ongoing:
Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF - MAKING A DIFFERENCE:  
The campaign runs from March 1st through May 15th with the goal of creating greater awareness of the benefits of AER as well as providing Soldiers the opportunity to donate to their fellow Soldiers. ACS ROLE PLAYERS WANTED:  
Army Community Service is looking for some Soldiers and Spouses to be role players for an upcoming exercise.  Volunteers must be able to take direction, listen and stay to the scenario already prepared.  The exercise will be testing ACS's emergency response capabilities.  If interested, please contact Fort Stewart (912) 767-1257/1597 for more details.

TAX CENTERS ARE OPEN, through Apr. 30:
The Marne Tax Centers at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield are open through Apr. 30. Tax Preparers are available to assist Solders, Family Members, and Retirees from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mon-Wed & Fri, 11 a.m. to 4 pm Thursday. Full service assistance for walk-in or drop-off returns. MONTHLY TOBACCO CESSATION CLASSES, begin Feb. 25:
Army Public Health Nursing in conjunction with the Army Wellness Center will conduct monthly tobacco cessation classes, beginning Feb. 25, 9 to 10 a.m. at the Army Wellness Center located at 844 Gulick Ave., Fort Stewart.  Classes will provide tools on how to become tobacco free and how to stay tobacco free if you have already quit.  Open to all Active Duty, Retirees, Military Beneficiaries and DoD Civilians (MEDDAC, DENTAC, & VETCOM only). EARN CREDITS WITH MARCH EDUCATIONAL KICKOFF:
March is Traumatic Brain Awareness Month and the Stewart-Hunter Medical Activity Commands begins recognition with a TBI Educational Forum, which provides continuing education credits. This free Webinar-forum is scheduled 1-3 p.m., Monday, March 2 at Winn Army Community Hospital in the Patriot Auditorium to persons who actively provide TBI/psychological care to active duty Service members, Reservists, National Guardsmen, military veterans and/or their families. RED CROSS SPAGHETTI DINNER, Mar. 6:
Get Carb loaded and ready for the Run for Red 5K at the Red Cross Spaghetti Dinner, Friday, Mar. 6, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., at Victory Chapel, Bldg. 2125, 374 Warrior Rd.  Invite your supporters, and pre-register for the 5K.  
The event is planned and executed together with Club Beyond, which will receive the proceeds of the event. RUN FOR RED 5K, Mar. 7:
Registration for the run will be open until 7:30 a.m. Runners can check in until shortly before the start.  The run starts at 9 a.m. Top finishers will receive a medal in their age group. STATE OF THE GARRISON, Apr. 14 and Apr. 16:
Col. Kevin Gregory, US Army Garrison Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander, will conduct the bi-annual Fort Stewart State of the Garrison, Tues. Apr. 14, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Main Post Chapel.  Lt. Col. Will Bowman, Garrison Commander, Hunter Army Airfield, will conduct the Hunter State of the Garrison Thurs., Apr. 16, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Hunter Chapel.  Topics include IMCOM CG priorities, Leadership change, Things We Are Proud Of, What's Next, Resources, and Awards.  The State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce, and are open to all Garrison employees.

SIGN-UP BEGINS WEDNESDAY FOR MARNE TRAIL BASS TOURNAMENT AT PINEVIEW LAKE, March 21:
Early Bird registration begins Wed. for the Marne Trail Bass Tournament, a catch-and-release event at 6:30 a.m. March 21 at Pineview Lake on Fort Stewart. Cash prizes are $250 for first-place (total weight, five-fish maximum per person) and $100 for the largest bass. CARDBOARD BOAT REGATTA AT HUNTER, Feb. 28:
Sign-up now for the Cardboard Boat Regatta to be held 10:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Tominac Fitness Center Pool on Hunter. Using only cardboard and duct tape, participants must build a boat to race one length of the pool with a two-person crew. No charge to enter. Paddles provided. REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR MANAGED HOG HUNT AT STEWART, March 28:
Hunters who would like to participate in a Managed Hog Hunt in Delta Complex at Fort Stewart on March 28 should register at the Stewart or Hunter Pass & Permit office before March 19. Gold Star Family Members, Purple Heart recipients and WTB Soldiers will receive special invitations to attend. Hunt is also open to Active Duty Soldiers and Retirees.
