EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS DAY BRIEFINGS SCHEDULED, May 19 and 28:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Garrison Commander directs an Emergency Preparedness Day, May 19 and 28, in order to inform and prepare the Soldiers and Civilians with the Stewart-Hunter workforce for the 2015 Hurricane Season, Respond to an Active Shooter, Sheltering in Place, and the At Hoc Mass Warning and Notification System. All Soldiers assigned to the Garrison and DA Civilians will attend one of the scheduled Emergency Preparedness Day Briefings to be conducted at the Fort Stewart Woodruff Theater on May 19 and Hunter Theater on May 28. Leadership is encouraged to schedule their personnel to attend, but keep areas open for regular business during normal operational hours. Family Members are also encouraged to attend any of the briefings. The briefings on Stewart are at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 1 p.m. on 19 May. SUBSTANCE ABUSE TRAINING, May 26:
Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will conduct the Quarterly Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training 9-10 a.m., 10:15-11:15 a.m., 1-2 p.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m. May 12 at the HAAF Post Theater Bldg 1282.  The theme is Spice Awareness.  All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

 FIELD SANITATION TEAM TRAINING, May 26-29:
Field Sanitation Team training will be taking place on May 26 – 29.  This 40 hour course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SFC Paul R. CIVILIAN FITNESS PROGRAM, June 1-Dec. 3:
 Register by May 27 for the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Civilian Employee Wellness and Fitness Program.  Applications are available online at www.stewartmwr.com/ or www.huntermwr.com. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet.  This program lasts 6 months.  The Stewart Program at Newman Fitness Center, B-439 has 25 spaces.  The Hunter Program at Tominac also has 25 spaces.  Hunter employees at MEDDAC, DENTAC and MSE are encouraged to apply.  The program provides opportunities for Civilian Employees to improve their health, well-being and overall resilience. HUNTER TRAFFIC DELAYS, Through June 5:
Expect traffic delays on Hunter Army Airfield, through June 5, in Wilson Acres and New Gannam, along North and South Lightning Road, off of North Perimeter Road and Steven Douglass Street.  Lane closures may be necessary to conduct a smoke test of the sanitary collection system.  Delays may be incurred due to movement of vehicles and personnel.  Please plan accordingly for the delays and slow down and be aware of the workers and equipment in the area.  POC is Kevin Montano, DPW at 912-767-4937 or 912-767-2010.  

WARRANT OFFICER ASSOCIATION GOLF SCRAMBLE, Friday (June 19):

FOOD HANDLERS CLASS, June 29
The May Food Handlers Class has been cancelled.  The next class is Monday June 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. . This class will be held at Winn ACH in the Patriot Auditorium. It is a FREE class, and certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil.  Pre-registration is a REQUIREMENT in order to attend this class, and you must be on time, no-walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on the installation including Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events, etc.

UPDATE YOUR GOARMYED EMAIL PREFERRED ADDRESS, before June 30:

EARN PROMOTION POINTS WITH ACS CLASSES:

SIGN-UP FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, Ongoing:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Chaplain's Office offers Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer.  The Hunter VBS is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, June 8-12 at the Hunter Main Post Chapel.  The Stewart VBS is 9 a.m. to Noon daily, June 22-26, at the Main Post Chapel. CONTROLLED BURNING, Ongoing:
Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling through areas that may be affected by smoke. For more information, please contact Amanda Price at 912-767-2010.  

ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON HWY 144 EAST, Ongoing: 
The Georgia Department of Transportation will be paving a portion of Georgia Highway 144 East on Fort Stewart through July 31.  The portion will be approximately 11.61 miles long between Evans Army Airfield and the boundary gate at Richmond Hill. There will be night work involved and there will be light towers at each flagging station. Lane closures be approximately 3.8 miles long.  No lane closures shall be between the hours of 6-8 a.m. nor 4-6 p.m.  Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This will reduce the impact on traffic on the highway.  POC for this construction effort is Jim Shurling at 912-320-0472.

SPLASHPARK AT CORKAN OPENS, Today (May 18):  

“The Springs” Splashpark, building 444 at Cypress Creek, opens for the summer season today from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (weather permitting). Admission for those entering the gated area is $2 per person (ages 3 and older). Children (ages 2 and under) free with paying adult. Swimmer diapers are required for children not potty trained. Splashpark hours of operation are Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 

OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOLS OPEN FOR 2015 SEASON, Saturday (May 23):

Stewart/Hunter outdoor swimming pools open for the summer season Memorial Day weekend, starting Saturday. Swim for a $3 daily pass, or purchase an $80 Family Season Pass to cut costs. Passes can be purchased at the pools when they open. Children under 4 free. AMERICA’S ARMED FORCES KIDS RUN 2015 AT HUNTER, May 30:

America’s Armed Forces Kids Run 2015, part of a national event in support of Armed Forces Day, will start at 9 a.m. May 30 at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road. POWERLIFTING/BENCH PRESS & DEUCE-AND-A-QUARTER BENCH PRESS CHALLENGE, June 13:

Competition to be held June 13 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Johnson Fitness Center. Cost is $20 per person May 4-June 12, then $25 per person. The “Deuce-and-a-Quarter” (225-pound Press for Reps) Competition is a test of muscular strength and endurance. Overall winner will be based on number of reps performed. RUN/BIKE FOR THE HEROES, May 20-25:

Run or Bike Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus. Come out and cheer on these awesome athletes and the House of Heroes cause of modifying the homes for wounded warriors. MARNE MESSAGE SUBMISSIONS:
The Marne Message is a weekly publication posted to email each Monday and to the Marne Message Blogger at http://marnemessage.blogspot.com.  The Marne Message submission email address is USARMY Fort Stewart ID List ALL Message Request (on the global) or typed as: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. In order to keep the Marne Message timely and concise, limit submissions to 75 words or less. Do not use military times. Attachments cannot be included, but links to more online information can. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered.

 

WANT TO GET MARNE MESSAGES?

Individuals wishing to get the Marne Message, who do not have a Fort Stewart - Hunter Military Email Account, can visit the 3rd Infantry Division on Facebook page at:  www.facebook.com/3rd.Infantry.Division. If you have a Fort Stewart - Hunter Military Email Account and don’t automatically get the Marne Message, you can request an account by sending an email to “USARMY Ft Stewart 3 ID Mailbox Marne Message” or usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. IF YOU HAVE PCS'D:

If you have moved and are no longer assigned to Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield, follow these instructions to change your duty location. Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.  If you have any problems, send an email to “USARMY Ft Stewart 3 ID Mailbox Marne Message” or usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil.
