HOLIDAY SAFETY GRAM 16-05:
Holiday season is here and there are lots of activities
going on which can act as distractions to our work. Taking four seconds for
safety may seem unimportant to you yet it is the one activity you might take
during a busy and distracted day which will have the most benefit in keeping
you safe. Think of it as your Holiday present to yourself. In fact, you can
think of each of those people who would be affected by an injury to you every
time you take four seconds to refocus.
The Safety Flyer can be found at http://www.stewart.army.mil/info.asp?e=Safety. For more information, call 912-767-6541.
5 WINTER MOTORCYCLE SAFETY TIPS:
(1) Dress for the weather: In cooler months wind chills can
cause damage to your body including frost bite; (2) Check tire pressures daily:
Make sure your tires are inflated to meet the motorcycle manufacturer's
specifications, not what is printed on the tire; (3) Tires need to be warm before
they reach optimal traction: cold weather not only causes low tire pressure but
also makes the carcass (or exterior) of your tire harder; (4) Store bikes
properly: Clean the bike thoroughly, lubricate chain (if it has one), add a
fuel stabilizer, use a trickle charger and if you have the stands, lift the
bike off of the ground; and (5) Prepare for the roads: Roadways take the brunt
of Winter's wrath in the form of sand, leaves, gravel, potholes, construction,
and distracted drivers. Combat these killers by keeping your eyes far ahead and
assume the worst. For more information, contact SSG Pendleton, II, phone number
912-435-9682.
