JPAS TRAINING, Monday:
The next Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) training is scheduled for Monday, 1-4 p.m. at the SFC Paul Smith Education Center, Room 179, on Fort Stewart. Only 22 seats available, so please reserve your seats soonest. This class is for newly appointed and refresher training for Stewart-HAAF appointed Security Managers. JPAS is a system where comprehensive personnel security management of all DoD employees, military personnel, civilians and DoD contractors are managed. The Installation Security Office oversees training and grants access to those personnel required. ANNUAL WEINGARTEN NOTICE:
In accordance with the requirements of 5 USC 7114(a)(3), this is to advise bargaining unit employees that a bargaining unit employee being examined in an investigation (an investigatory examination or interview) is entitled to union representation if the examination is conducted by a representative of the agency, the employee reasonably believes that the examination may result in disciplinary action, and the employee request representation. Specifically, 5 USC 7114(a)(2)(B) states: An exclusive representative of an appropriate unit in an agency shall be given the opportunity to be represented at any examination of an employee in the unit by a representative of the agency in connection with an investigation if - (a) the employee reasonably believes that the examination may result in disciplinary action against the employee; and (b) the employee requests representation. This right is commonly referred to as the "Weingarten" right, based on the U.S. Supreme Court's private sector labor decision in NLRB v. J. RECYCLE YOUR LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE, through Friday:
In support of its annual Bring One for the Chipper campaign, Keep Fort Stewart-HAAF Beautiful will be collecting live Christmas Trees through Friday. Drop-off locations are the PX parking lots on Fort Stewart and Hunter. The trees will be used either as fish and wildlife habitats throughout the Installation or will be mulched for use at the Fort Stewart Central Energy Plant. CONTROLLED BURNING, ongoing:
Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. STEWART TRAFFIC SIGNALS ISSUES:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Public Works is experiencing problems with the traffic signals at Hero and Austin and the signal at Hero and Steele.  These lights are in flashing mode until we get the parts to fix them.  Be cautious when at these intersections. JANUARY/OTHER HEADLINES

EQCC MEETING, Tuesday:
IAW AR 200-1, the Garrison Commander will chair the Environmental Quality Control Committee Meeting Monday at the FS Central Energy Plant (Bldg 1412) on McFarland Avenue. The meeting will be held from 1-3 p.m. and will commence with a compliance update, which will be followed by an award presentation by the Garrison Commander. Participants will then be divided into groups and escorted to various sections of the Central Energy Plant. Participants are reminded to dress accordingly as the majority of the meeting/tour will be outside. The EQCC helps the Installation in meeting environmental management responsibilities. Brigade representation, Garrison Directors, Rear Detachments, Tenant Orgs, and Environmental Compliance Officers are required to attend or send a representative. HAAF CENTRAL ENERGY PLANT OUTAGE, Jan. 16:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Public Works will conduct some gas valve replacements Jan. 16 from 9 a.m.-UTC. This will affect hot water and heating in the following buildings: 1509, 1505, 1506, 1511, 1512, 1527, 1530, 1525, 1529, and 1531. For more information, contact James Maddox at 912-767-5027.

STEWART ROAD CLOSURES, Jan. 19-April 17:
Niles Avenue will be closed from E. 16th Street to Steel Avenue from Jan. 19 to April 17. 4Th Street and Gate 2 will be closed Jan. 19 to April 17. Work will also be accomplished on Austin Road from Jan. 19 to March 19. Austin Road will not be closed. Traffic will be directed by flagmen. Motorist are advised to use extreme caution during these closures.  The closures are necessary to repave the roads.  POC for this construction effort is Jim Shurling at 912-320-0472.

STEWART POWER OUTAGE, Jan. 19:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Directorate of Public Works will conduct a power outage as part of the Veteran's Parkway road widening project. This is scheduled for Jan. 19 from 8 a.m. until closing. Buildings affected are: 1198, 1199, 1113, 1116, 1099, 1111, 1110, 1109, 1122, 1120, 1178, 1114, 1139, 1135, 1129, 1137, 1140, 1141, 1123, 1124, 1125, 1183B, 1180, 1186, 1182, 1168, 1184.  For more information, contact James Maddox at 912-767-5027.

HIRING FAIR AND TRANSITION SUMMIT, Jan. 21 and 22, 2015:

TAX CENTERS FOR FORT STEWART AND HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD, Jan. 29:
Tax season is almost here! The Marne Tax Centers at Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will be open Jan. 29-April 30. Tax Preparers will be available to assist Solders, Family Members, and Retirees from 8:45 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Full service assistance for walk-in or drop-off returns. ADPASS:
The Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and Assessment System (ADPASS) is the Army's way of accounting for personnel and family members following disasters. All Soldiers, civilians, and family members are required to report their status following an emergency in ADPAAs if directed to do so by the Secretary of the Army or their Major Commands.  ADPAAS is a web-based system and is the only way the Army will accept status reports following a disaster. Starting this month, Mondays are play days at Cypress Sam’s Treehouse, building 449, for children 0-5 years of age. SKATING RINK WORK TEMPORARILY CLOSES CORKAN FUN CENTER: 
Corkan Family Fun Center, building 449, is closed until March 1 while the Skating Rink flooring is replaced and new barrier walls are constructed. Building 449 also houses the Laser Tag area and Bounce Houses, which will not be available for use during the work. Cypress Sam’s Treehouse Indoor Playland, Cypress Creek Adventure (Mini) Golf, and Stewart Bowling Center will operate on their normal schedules while the roller rink work is being completed. MARNE MESSAGE SUBMISSIONS:
The Marne Message submission email address is USARMY Fort Stewart ID List ALL Message Request (on the global) or typed as: usarmy.stewart.3-id.list.all-message-request@mail.mil. In order to keep the Marne Message timely and concise, limit submissions to 75 words or less. Do not use military times. Attachments cannot be included, but links to more online information can. Only official installation, MWR, or command directed messages are considered. Effective November 1, 2014, the Marne Message is only sent twice weekly on Mondays and Thursdays. The deadline for the Monday Marne Message is COB Friday, and the deadline for the Thursday Marne Message is COB Wednesday.  All incoming requests for Marne Messages will still be posted to the Google Blogger (ref. Marne Messages).

WANT TO GET MARNE MESSAGES?:

If you have moved and are no longer assigned to Fort Stewart or Hunter Army Airfield, follow these instructions to change your duty location. Go to Milconnect at https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/milconnect, login, select the "My profile" tab, select "Update and View My Profile", select the tab that corresponds to your current role in DoD (i.e. Mil, CIV, CTR, etc).  On the duty installation drop down menu select your correct duty location.  Your name will be removed from Marne Message distribution lists at the next scheduled update which is performed monthly.
