Winn Army Community Hospital will conduct an "All Hazards" exercise the week of April 25-29.  This is only a training event.  Please don't be alarmed by the First Responder's Vehicle Sirens. The Central Energy Plant will be down for maintenance from Friday afternoon through the Sunday evening for maintenance. Barracks in the 200, 500, 600, 700 and 800 blocks will be without hot water during this outage. Hot water will remain available in all gyms during the shutdown. The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Army Substance Abuse Program, in partnership with MEDDAC, hosts a Prescription Drug Take Back Day 10-3 p.m. April 29 at the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield commissaries.  Please bring unused, outdated and unwanted medication to dispose of them properly instead of dumping them in toilets.  Please don't bring syringes or asthmatic medications.

(Friday) TEEN LOCK-IN AT STEWART’S YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER:
An Operation Megaphone Teen lock-in, part of April’s celebration as Month of the Military Child, will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Fort Stewart’s Youth Activity Center, building 5655 on Mindoro Loop. The event, for registered Middle School and Teens and costs 15 per person. The activity-filled night will include bowling at Marne Bowling Center from 8-10 p.m., a talent show, volleyball, a pool tournament, creative cooking, a basketball tournament and a dance at 4 a.m. The lock-in ends at 7 a.m. Saturday. Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Thunder Café and Spartan DFACs.  Spartan DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal on 26 May and will reopen on 31 May with the breakfast meal. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday.  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

The Fort Stewart Annual Spring Historic Cemetery Tour is scheduled for May 4, weather permitting. (May 6) MCSC GOLF SCRAMBLE:

Marne Community & Spouses Club (MCSC) will hold its annual Golf Scramble on May 6. The event will be held at Taylors Creek Golf Course and is open to the public. Registration ends April 25. The four person scramble will be a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a variety of contest to include, longest drive and closest to the pin. (May 12): TIMBER HARVEST COMPLETION:

Fort Stewart/Hunter Airfield's Forestry Branch began a timber harvest on Fort Stewart adjacent to Hero Road in the vicinity of the wooded area south of Hero Road and west of New Guinea Street. The timber harvest is scheduled for completion by May 12. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m-6 p.m. Motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling on Hero Road as logging trucks will be using Hero Road as a point of ingress/egress to the timber harvest site. (May 13) FRG Brownbag Scheduled:

(May 14) CANOE/KAYAK FLOAT TRIP ON THE OGEECHEE RIVER:

Enjoy the great outdoors and the Ogeechee River on a Canoe/Kayak Trip starting at 8 a.m. May 14 for just $20 per person (includes transportation). Youth under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Paddlers must be 12 or older. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and to choose between a canoe or kayak when they register at Outdoor Recreation, building 8325 at Holbrook Pond. (May 17) 2016 LEADERSHIP SEMINAR:

Hosted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Office, Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, Management Employee Relations and Labor Law. This one day seminar offers topics unique to Supervisors and Managers of Federal Civilian Employees. If you are a Civilian or Military Supervisor of Civilian employees and would like to learn about conflict management, employee performance issues, your role in the EEO complaint process or how to have a difficult conversation just to name a few, then this seminar is for you! (May 18-24) PMP BOOT CAMP:

The Division Engineer will host a Project Management Professional (PMP) “Boot Camp” from May 18-24. This is open to military and civilian personnel. A professional trainer will facilitate the course - designed to prepare participants for the PMP exam. Soldiers who pass the exam gain an additional skill identifier. Marne Message, Weekend Edition, April 21


STATE OF THE GARRISON, today:                                                                                                             

The Combined Fort Stewart/Hunter AAF State of the Garrison is scheduled for April 21, 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Club Stewart Ballroom.   The State of the Garrison is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce.   Topics will include Awards, IMCOM CG’s Top Priorities, Leadership Changes, Things We Are Proud Of, and Resources.  This is a bi-annual event to share information with the workforce. These forums are open to all Garrison employees.  All DA civilians (AF/NAF), contractors and tenant organizations assigned to Fort Stewart and Hunter AAF are encouraged to attend.  This will be your official place of duty.  Transportation from Hunter will be provided (see below).

 

HUNTER TRANSPORTATION TO STATE OF GARRISON, Today:

Transportation will be provided for the Hunter Army Airfield workforce to attend the State of the Garrison (SOTG) address, Thursday, 1-3 p.m. at Club Stewart. Buses will be staged at the south end of the Hunter Exchange parking lot, building 6020, 11:30 a.m., and depart at Noon to Fort Stewart. Buses will depart Fort Stewart at 3:30 p.m. to return to Hunter Army Airfield. Supervisors should provide the Hunter Garrison a roster of employees riding a bus to include their name/organization NLT 9 a.m., Monday at the weekly Command and Staff meeting. HAAF Headquarters will be closed during the SOTG, Thursday, 11:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

 

MADD SPONSORED ALCOHOL AWARENESS MONTH EVENT, today:

Alcohol Awareness Month Event with the support of the Mothers Against Drunk Driving at the Hunter Club today, 10:00-11:00 am and 1:00-2:00 pm. All Commanders are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity, the ASAP will count the training hours toward each unit’s minimum 4 hour annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement. STARBASE SAVANNAH SUMMER PROGRAM REGISTRATION, Now until May 6: 

The STARBASE program is available to rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in military Families. Session 1: June 13-16, Robotics, 9 a.m. to Noon, Mon. - Thurs.  Sessions 2: June 20-23, Physical Science using the Engineering Design Process, 9 a.m. - Noon, Mon. - Thurs. Applications can be picked up at STARBASE on MacArthur Circle, Bldg. 617 on Hunter or by calling 912-315-3749. Space is limited; only a completed application will hold a spot in the program. HUNTER GARRISON'S GET FIT HOUR, begins Friday:

LTC Mike Squires invites the entire garrison community to join him in a 1-mile walk for exercise and camaraderie on the Hunter bike path, 12-1 p.m.  If interested, meet in the parking lot on Lighting Rd., across the street from the Consolidated Arms Room, adjacent to Pond 29.  The pond is near Family Day Field. FOOD HANDLER'S CLASS, April 25:

A food handler's class will be held at Winn ACH in the hospital education classroom on the 2nd floor from 9-10 a.m. This is a free class. Certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil, by COB Thursday.  Pre-registration is required to attend this class.  You must be on time. No walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on FSGA/HAAF (Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events).

 

PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY, April 29:

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Army Substance Abuse Program, in partnership with MEDDAC, hosts a Prescription Drug Take Back Day 10-3 p.m. April 29 at the Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield commissaries.  Please bring unused, outdated and unwanted medication to dispose of them properly instead of dumping them in toilets.  Please don't bring syringes or asthmatic medications.

WINN ARMY COMMUNITY HOSPITAL EXERCISE, Monday:

Winn Army Community Hospital will conduct an "All Hazards" exercise the week of April 25 through 29th.  This is only a training event.  Please don't be alarmed by the First Responder's Vehicle Sirens. The exercise is conducted to ensure the hospital is able to provide a safe and secure environment for all our beneficiaries, staff, and visitors.
