CYSS FEE POLICY & IMPLEMENTATION DATE POSTPONED:

Several weeks ago a letter was issued to parents at all CYSS facilities outlining the new fee policy and implementation date of Nov. 1, 2015.

Parents are asked to please disregard this letter as the outlined date has been postponed until further notice.  Once CYSS receives guidance from the Department of Defense a new letter will be issued containing the new dates & procedures. DRUG ABUSE PREVENTION CLASSES, Thursday:

The Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) will host Georgia State Patrol Officer Andy Sinquefield, who will discuss the origin of Red Ribbon Week and provide Drug Abuse Prevention classes, today at Fort Stewart's Woodruff Theater from 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. All community members are invited to attend this presentation. All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity. The ASAP will count the training hours toward each unit’s minimum 4-hour annual Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training requirement. The 2015 Halloween Trick or Treat hours in the Fort Stewart housing area will be 6-8 p.m. on Saturday. PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization and is a nonprofit group comprised of parents, teachers, and staff dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students at Brittin Elementary School. Our goals are to encourage interaction between family and school, serve as a source of support, and work with teachers, staff, and the community at large to improve our children's educational experience. ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT & ASSISTANCE INSPECTION, Today-Friday:
An Environmental Performance Assessment & Assistance System (EPAAS) inspection will be conducted Today-Friday. The objective of the EPAAS is to identify non-compliance with environmental regulations and non-conformance with the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) 14001 standard used for our Sustainability Management System (SMS). WEAR PURPLE THURSDAYS IN OCTOBER:
Each Thursday, we encourage our Community to wear purple.  Why purple? Purple is the symbolic color for domestic violence awareness. In the United States military, the Purple Heart is presented to those who have been wounded while serving. Wear purple as a way to tell others why that ending domestic violence is important to you. TASP TRAINING SCHEDULED, Nov. 3 & 4:

SIGN UP NOW FOR STORM SPOTTER CLASS, Nov. 3:
The DPTMS Protection Branch will host a National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Spotter Class, Nov. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the SFC Paul R. Smith Education Center Auditorium. The training will be led by Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the Charleston NWS, Ron Morales, and will include a brief introduction to the NWS, the different types of hazardous weather and how to safely observe them, the types of severe weather to report, and how to send those reports to the NWS.  No prior knowledge of weather or weather observing is necessary to attend this training. A limited number of free tickets are available for the Georgia Southern Eagles football game Thursday against the Texas State Bobcats at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro. The tickets will be given away to Soldiers holding the rank of E-1 through E-5 on a first-come, first-served basis at Leisure Travel in the PX Furniture Mall on Stewart. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday. Limit two tickets per Soldier. Ticket recipients will be publicly recognized as Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield Soldiers at the game. COMMANDER’S SCRAMBLE AT TAYLORS CREEK GOLF COURSE, Friday:
Players are reminded to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness during the Commander’s Scramble on Friday at Taylors Creek Golf Course. Registration and lunch are at 11 a.m. and play begins at noon. The $45 per player cost includes golf cart, greens fee, range balls, lunch, mulligans and prizes. HEARING CONSERVATION HOURS CHANGE, Nov. 2:
Effective Nov. 2, Hearing Conservation hours at the Soldier Service Center will be as follows: Mondays-Thursdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. (Unit testing); Fridays, 10:30 a.m.-NOON, (Unit testing); 1-3:45 p.m. (Follow-ups). There are no longer WALK-IN hours available. All units testing MUST have appointed HPO present during scheduled timeframe. MARNE BOWLING CENTER TURKEY SHOOT, Nov. 2-25:
Bowl two consecutive strikes during normal business hours at Marne Bowling Center from Nov. 2-25 and you will win a frozen turkey. The cost is $1 per person. Tickets and transportation for the 11 a.m. Nov. 14 Disney on Ice Let’s Celebrate show at Savannah Civic Center are available at Stewart/Hunter Leisure Travel offices. The price for tickets and transportation is $25 for adults and $20 for children. Ages 2 and above must have a ticket for admission. The price for tickets only is $17 per person. LONG RANGE TURKEY SHOOT AT FORT STEWART, Nov. 14:
Put your shooting skills to the test, and you might take home a turkey from the Long Range Turkey Shoot Nov. 14. The Turkey Shoot will be held concurrently with the Long Range Shooting that day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Red Cloud Echo Range at Stewart. Cost for the Long Range Shoot is $15. Cost for the Turkey Shoot is $3 per try. This rifles only event is open to all registered Stewart/Hunter weapon owners. All caliber rifles permitted. In the Turkey Shoot, contestants in groups of five will shoot at a paper target from 300 yards, and the one closest to the center wins in each round until all the turkeys are gone. FUN IN THE SMOKEY MOUNTAINS TRIP, Feb. 12-14, 2016:

‘GRIDIRON CHALLENGE’ AT CLUB STEWART, Fridays:
Fill out a game sheet with your NFL picks and turn your sheet in before noon on Fridays, and you could leave the Gridiron Challenge that evening with a $100 gift card. Game sheets available at all Stewart fitness centers, Marne and Stewart bowling centers, and Club Stewart. Pick sheets must be placed in the boxes at each facility by noon Fridays. You must be present at the Gridiron Challenge, held Fridays starting at 6 p.m. in Thunder Run at Club Stewart, to win the weekly gift card and have a chance to win the grand prize of $400 cash after week 17.
