JUNE DINING FACILITY HOURS ANNOUNCED

The Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield Dining Facilities cordially invite DA Civilians and Family Members to dine with us. 

 

 
 
 
 
 
FORT STEWART DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, June: 

Legion (Bldg 207, 660 Harmon Ave), Raider (Bldg 642, 1312 William H. Wilson Ave), Thunder Café (Bldg 3003, 1600 W. 6th Street), and Spartan (Bldg 8439, Vanguard Road) DFACs will be open for weekday breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, Monday - Friday.  Weekend/holiday hours begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday on 13 - 15 June, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper on 12 June).  Dining Facility information can be found on the Team Stewart webpage at: www.stewart.army.mil/info.asp?e=DFAC.  For questions please contact 767-8761 or call the 24-hour DFAC hotline at 767-4991.

 

FS WEEKEND/HOLIDAY DFAC: 

Dining Facilities open for Weekend/Holiday meals are Thunder Café and Spartan DFACs.  Spartan DFAC will be closed after the lunch meal on 12 June and will reopen with the breakfast meal on 16 June. Designated Weekend and Holiday Meal DFACs begin with the supper meal on Friday (for the training holiday on 13 - 15 June, the weekend designated DFAC begins with supper on 12 June).  Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

 

FS WEEKDAY MEAL HOURS:

The Fort Stewart Weekday Meal hours are Breakfast 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Thursday Breakfast hours are; Legion 6-8 a.m.; Raider 5-6:30 a.m.; Thunder Café 5-6:30 a.m.; and Spartan 7:30-9 a.m.; Lunch and Dinner Meal Hours for all DFAC's on Thursday are; Lunch from Noon to 1:30 p.m.; and Dinner from 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Dinner Meal hours are 4-5:30 p.m.

 

HAAF CONSOLIDATED DINING FACILITY OPERATING HOURS, June:

The Hunter Army Airfield Consolidated DFAC (Bldg 110, 89 William Barksdale Cir) Weekday Meal Hours are Breakfast 7:30-9:00 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m.  Friday Meal Hours are breakfast 6:30-7 a.m. & 7:30-9:00 a.m.; Lunch 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Dinner 5-6:30 p.m. Weekend and Holiday Meal Hours are Brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Supper 5-6:30 p.m.

HUNTER EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS BRIEF, May 28:

An Emergency Preparedness presentation will be held, 8 a.m., 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 28 to inform and prepare the Soldiers and Civilians for: the 2015 Hurricane Season; how to respond to an active shooter; the basics of sheltering in place; and the At Hoc Mass Warning and Notification System.  The POC is Hugh Quiller at 315-3851 or hubert.quiller.civ@mail.mil . MFLC Counseling Center OPEN HOUSE, May 28:

Community members are invited to attend a special Open House and Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the New Military and Family Life Counseling Center, May 28 from Noon to 4:30 p.m.  Welcome and Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be conducted by COL. William E. Lukens, USA, Retired, ACS Director and Command Sergeant Major, Myron J. RED CROSS RECONNECTION WORKSHOP, May 28:

Community Members are invited to attend an informational presentation 10-11:30 a.m.  May 28 at the Fort Stewart Red Cross Training Room, Bldg. 53, second floor. The workshops are open to all our active duty, veterans, retirees, transitioning military personnel, and their Families. The Reconnection Workshops helps service men and women, and their Families, focus on those topics they have identified as relevant to their transition experience: managing anger, supporting children, building communication, reconnecting with others, recognizing stress, including Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), and other topics critical to reunion adjustment.  Actively licensed and specially trained Red Cross mental health volunteers facilitate small-group workshops; which are free, in a supportive, confidential environment.  To learn more or RSVP contact FortStewart@redcross.org or call 912-767-2197.

WARRANT OFFICER ASSOCIATION GOLF SCRAMBLE, Friday (June 19):

2nd ANNUAL ACS RECON CHALLENGE, June 25:  

Join ACS as we conduct the 2nd Annual RECON Challenge.  This IMCOM recognized Best Practice will be conducted June 25, with registration starting at 4:30 p.m. The challenge will begin after Retreat at 5:00 pm.  This is a Family fun event designed to build Resilience, improve communication and build confidence in decision making.  Participants will be given clues to navigate to special landmarks on the Installation.  Landmarks will have questions and physical challenges designed to further test participants.  ACS will have a surprise finish point for the entire Families enjoyment.  Please call FS (912) 767-1257/4047/1597 for details.

 

FOOD HANDLERS CLASS, June 29

The May Food Handlers Class has been cancelled.  The next class is Monday June 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. . This class will be held at Winn ACH in the Patriot Auditorium. It is a FREE class, and certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil.  Pre-registration is a REQUIREMENT in order to attend this class, and you must be on time, no-walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on the installation including Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events, etc.

 

UPDATE YOUR GOARMYED EMAIL PREFERRED ADDRESS, before June 30: 

AKO will cease forwarding emails to Army Common Access Card (CAC) holders on June 30.  AKO has already ceased to forward emails to non-CAC accounts.  In order for you to receive information from GoArmyEd you must update your account information and change your Preferred Email address to your @mail.mil account.  To update your record select the "Account Information" link at the bottom of your home page.  Once you update your Preferred Email address please select the "Update Account Information" button. 

 

EARN PROMOTION POINTS WITH ACS CLASSES:

In accordance with AR 600-8-19 paragraph 3-44a. (3), Soldiers can earn four promotion points for each 40 hours of each ACS courses. SIGN-UP FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, Ongoing:

The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Chaplain's Office offers Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer.  The Hunter VBS is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, June 8-12 at the Hunter Main Post Chapel.  The Stewart VBS is 9 a.m. to Noon daily, June 22-26, at the Main Post Chapel. Our theme this year is "Everest conquering Challenges with God's Mighty Power."  The VBS program is open to Families of active-duty Soldier, military retirees, and DoD Civilians with children who have completed Kindergarten thru 5th Grades. MARNE TRAIL BASS TOURNAMENT, May 30:

Anglers are invited to compete starting at safe light May 30 at Glissons Mill Pond (Pond 2) in this, the third of four catch-and-release bass tournaments. Cash prizes awarded to winners. Heaviest combined weight of up to five bass wins. Fish from the bank or launch your bass boat (trolling motors only). Boat rentals available at Holbrook Equipment Center. POWERLIFTING/BENCH PRESS & DEUCE-AND-A-QUARTER BENCH PRESS CHALLENGE, June 13:

Competition to be held June 13 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Johnson Fitness Center. Cost is $20 per person May 4-June 12, then $25 per person. The “Deuce-and-a-Quarter” (225-pound Press for Reps) Competition is a test of muscular strength and endurance. Overall winner will be based on number of reps performed. Awards will be given in first and second place bench press; first-third place in 225-pound Press for Reps & Power Lift; and first-third place in all 13 weight classes. Leadership is encouraged to schedule their personnel to attend, but keep areas open for regular business during normal operational hours. Family Members are also encouraged to attend any of the briefings. The briefings on Stewart are at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and 1 p.m. on 19 May. SUBSTANCE ABUSE TRAINING, May 26:
Hunter Army Airfield’s Army Substance Abuse Program will conduct the Quarterly Substance Abuse Prevention and Awareness Training 9-10 a.m., 10:15-11:15 a.m., 1-2 p.m. and 2:15-3:15 p.m. May 12 at the HAAF Post Theater Bldg 1282.  The theme is Spice Awareness.  All units are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 
Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

 FIELD SANITATION TEAM TRAINING, May 26-29:
Field Sanitation Team training will be taking place on May 26 – 29.  This 40 hour course will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SFC Paul R. CIVILIAN FITNESS PROGRAM, June 1-Dec. 3:
 Register by May 27 for the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Civilian Employee Wellness and Fitness Program.  Applications are available online at www.stewartmwr.com/ or www.huntermwr.com. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet.  This program lasts 6 months.  The Stewart Program at Newman Fitness Center, B-439 has 25 spaces.  The Hunter Program at Tominac also has 25 spaces.  Hunter employees at MEDDAC, DENTAC and MSE are encouraged to apply.  The program provides opportunities for Civilian Employees to improve their health, well-being and overall resilience. HUNTER TRAFFIC DELAYS, Through June 5:
Expect traffic delays on Hunter Army Airfield, through June 5, in Wilson Acres and New Gannam, along North and South Lightning Road, off of North Perimeter Road and Steven Douglass Street.  Lane closures may be necessary to conduct a smoke test of the sanitary collection system.  Delays may be incurred due to movement of vehicles and personnel.  Please plan accordingly for the delays and slow down and be aware of the workers and equipment in the area.  POC is Kevin Montano, DPW at 912-767-4937 or 912-767-2010.  

WARRANT OFFICER ASSOCIATION GOLF SCRAMBLE, Friday (June 19):

FOOD HANDLERS CLASS, June 29
The May Food Handlers Class has been cancelled.  The next class is Monday June 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. . This class will be held at Winn ACH in the Patriot Auditorium. It is a FREE class, and certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil.  Pre-registration is a REQUIREMENT in order to attend this class, and you must be on time, no-walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on the installation including Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events, etc.

UPDATE YOUR GOARMYED EMAIL PREFERRED ADDRESS, before June 30:

EARN PROMOTION POINTS WITH ACS CLASSES:

SIGN-UP FOR VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, Ongoing:
The Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Chaplain's Office offers Vacation Bible School (VBS) this summer.  The Hunter VBS is 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, June 8-12 at the Hunter Main Post Chapel.  The Stewart VBS is 9 a.m. to Noon daily, June 22-26, at the Main Post Chapel. Our theme this year is "Everest conquering Challenges with God's Mighty Power."  The VBS program is open to Families of active-duty Soldier, military retirees, and DoD Civilians with children who have completed Kindergarten thru 5th Grades. Fort Stewart's Forestry Branch is in the midst of a controlled burn season and will be conducting controlled burns at various locations on the Installation each week. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use extra caution when traveling through areas that may be affected by smoke. For more information, please contact Amanda Price at 912-767-2010.  

ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON HWY 144 EAST, Ongoing: 
The Georgia Department of Transportation will be paving a portion of Georgia Highway 144 East on Fort Stewart through July 31.  The portion will be approximately 11.61 miles long between Evans Army Airfield and the boundary gate at Richmond Hill. There will be night work involved and there will be light towers at each flagging station. Lane closures be approximately 3.8 miles long.  No lane closures shall be between the hours of 6-8 a.m. nor 4-6 p.m.  Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This will reduce the impact on traffic on the highway.  POC for this construction effort is Jim Shurling at 912-320-0472.

SPLASHPARK AT CORKAN OPENS, Today (May 18):  

“The Springs” Splashpark, building 444 at Cypress Creek, opens for the summer season today from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (weather permitting). Admission for those entering the gated area is $2 per person (ages 3 and older). Children (ages 2 and under) free with paying adult. Swimmer diapers are required for children not potty trained. Splashpark hours of operation are Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. For more information, call 912-767-4273.

 

OUTDOOR SWIMMING POOLS OPEN FOR 2015 SEASON, Saturday (May 23):

Stewart/Hunter outdoor swimming pools open for the summer season Memorial Day weekend, starting Saturday. Swim for a $3 daily pass, or purchase an $80 Family Season Pass to cut costs. Passes can be purchased at the pools when they open. Children under 4 free. RUN/BIKE FOR THE HEROES, May 20-25:

Run or Bike Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus. The Bike Path along Hero road is closed through May 15 from Liberty Street to the bridge toward Main Post. The closure is necessary for the installation of a new water main for the Diamond Elementary School Project. Signs will be posted for the duration of closure. Soldiers, Family, and Friends and members of the community are cordially invited to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team's reflagging ceremony10 a.m. May 18 at Marne Gardens.  During the ceremony 4th IBCT "Vanguard" will be deactivated and will be officially recognized as the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Spartans.  Also, 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery Regiment will deactivate and reflag as 1st Battalion, 9th Field Artillery Regiment; and 4-3 Brigade Special Troops Battalion will deactivate and reflag as the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion. As of May 18 all 4IBCT, Vanguard establishments will be designated as the 2IBCT, Spartan establishments. TRAFFIC WARNING FOR 16TH STREET, through May 29: 

Commuters are encouraged to use caution on Fort Stewart as road construction is planned for East 6th Street for traffic between Harmon Avenue and East Bultman, through 6 a.m. until May 26. In addition road construction will close East 16th Street from Troop Avenue to Harmon Avenue.  The road will be closed from 6 a.m. until May 29.  Detour signs and traffic control devices will be displayed for the duration of the closures.  Motorist are encouraged to avoid this area to minimize traffic congestion and be alert to changes in traffic patterns.  For more information call DPW at 767-3269.

 

FIELD SANITATION TEAM TRAINING, May 26-29:

CIVILIAN FITNESS PROGRAM, June 1-Dec. 3:

 Register by May 27 for the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Civilian Employee Wellness and Fitness Program.  Applications are available online at www.stewartmwr.com/ or www.huntermwr.com. Click on sports gyms and aquatics/Newman or Tominac Fitness Center and download your packet.  This program lasts 6 months.  The Stewart Program at Newman Fitness Center, B-439 has 25 spaces.  The Hunter Program at Tominac also has 25 spaces.  Hunter employees at MEDDAC, DENTAC and MSE are encouraged to apply.  The program provides opportunities for Civilian Employees to improve their health, well-being and overall resilience. HUNTER TRAFFIC DELAYS, Through June 5:

Expect traffic delays on Hunter Army Airfield, through June 5, in Wilson Acres and New Gannam, along North and South Lightning Road, off of North Perimeter Road and Steven Douglass Street.  Lane closures may be necessary to conduct a smoke test of the sanitary collection system.  Delays may be incurred due to movement of vehicles and personnel.  Please plan accordingly for the delays and slow down and be aware of the workers and equipment in the area.  POC is Kevin Montano, DPW at 912-767-4937 or 912-767-2010.

 

FOOD HANDLERS CLASS, June 29

The May Food Handlers Class has been cancelled.  The next class is Monday June 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. . This class will be held at Winn ACH in the Patriot Auditorium. It is a FREE class, and certification is good for one year. To register for this class, please submit your first and last name to usarmy.stewart.medcom-winn.list.environmental-health-services@mail.mil.  Pre-registration is a REQUIREMENT in order to attend this class, and you must be on time, no-walk-ins are permitted.  This class is mandated for all those dealing with food items on the installation including Unit functions, Organizational Days, FRG Events, etc.

HUNTER ARMY AIRFIELD 75TH ANNIVERSARY DUATHLON 5K RUN, Saturday (May 16):

Hunter Army Airfield 75th Anniversary Duathlon 5K Run, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, will consist of a 5K run on the flight line, a 10-mile bicycle ride around the post perimeter and a 3K run around the headquarters building. HOLBROOK MOVIES UNDER THE STARS SEASON BEGINS SATURDAY (May 16):

“Big Hero 6” will launch the popular Holbrook Movies Under the Stars series on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. The film is rated PG and lasts 93 minutes. AMERICA’S ARMED FORCES KIDS RUN 2015 AT STEWART, Saturday (May 16):

America’s Armed Forces Kids Run 2015, part of a national event in support of Armed Forces Day, will start at 9 a.m. Saturday (May 16) at Jordan Fitness Center (building 608) on Stewart. The Hunter kids run will be held May 30 and will begin at 9 a.m. at Stephen Douglas Street and North Perimeter Road. Youth aged 5-13 are invited to participate. SPLASHPARK AT CORKAN OPENS, May 18  

“The Springs” Splashpark, building 444 at Cypress Creek, opens for the summer season May 18 from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. (weather permitting). OUTDOOR POOLS OPEN, INDOOR POOLS BEGIN SUMMER SCHEDULES, May 23 May 23 is opening day for the Corkan and Bryan Village Outdoor Pools at Stewart and the Hunter Outdoor Swimming Pool & Water Spray Park. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on opening day as well as on Sunday, May 24, and on May 25, Memorial Day. The price is $3 daily or $80 for a season pass. Children under 4 years of age free. Passes can be purchased at any outdoor pool when they open. Also effective May 23, the Newman and Tominac indoor pools will be closed on weekends. RUN/BIKE FOR THE HEROES, May 20-25:

Run or Bike Across Georgia, from Fort Stewart to Columbus, a 260 mile jaunt across cool and comfortable south Georgia.  Individually take on the challenge to either Run Across Georgia in 5 days or Bike Across Georgia in 24 hours. Relay teams can either Run Across Georgia in 40 hours or Bike Across Georgia in 20 hours.  The event kicks off from Fort Stewart's Warriors Walk and heads toward Columbus.
